We're excited to announce that Blue Pine Works founder and ISA Board Certified Master Arborist Brandon Pankey has successfully passed the Prescription Pruning Qualification (PPQ) examination through Minnesota Society of Arboriculture!
So what does that mean for our clients?
Pruning is one of the most important tools we have for managing the health, structure, safety, and longevity of trees. Done correctly, it can help develop stronger branch attachments, reduce the likelihood of structural failures, manage conflicts with buildings and infrastructure, and preserve valuable trees for decades to come.
Done incorrectly, pruning can cause lasting damage, encourage undesirable growth, and create problems that may eventually lead to premature tree removal.
That's where prescription pruning comes in.
Rather than simply identifying branches to remove, prescription pruning uses an objectives-based approach grounded in tree biology, current research, and established industry standards.
We evaluate the tree's structure, species, condition, growing environment, and the property owner's goals. From there, we develop specific pruning instructions designed to accomplish those objectives while minimizing unnecessary injury to the tree.
This distinction matters.
Many tree service companies focus primarily on removal and the physical process of cutting trees. While removal is sometimes the necessary and appropriate solution, professional tree care requires the knowledge to recognize when a tree can instead be managed, improved, and preserved.
At Blue Pine Works, we believe our responsibility extends beyond the work we perform today. The decisions we make can influence a tree's health, structure, and value for decades.
The Prescription Pruning Qualification, developed through the Florida Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, reinforces that commitment through advanced education in tree architecture, pruning response, and scientifically informed pruning prescriptions.
Our goal isn't simply to cut trees. It's to help people make better decisions about them.
Integrity in Every Branch. Service Before Self. Excellence in All We Do.
