Realizing I never did a proper introduction on here!
So FIRST things FIRST
My name is Avery, I’m the artist behind New Meadow Designs
I have always loved art since I was a kid!
But it hasn’t been until recently
that I have started saying “I’m an Artist” when people ask what I do
It has been a long journey to get here!
I grew up in the military, but my home base and family is from Maine
Which is where the name New Meadow Designs comes from the New Meadows River in Maine that I grew up on
Fast forward to leaving Maine after high school…
I went to Art school in Boston
Then traveled to NYC for fashion designs school at Parsons
That took me on a whole career path in the fashion industry
From working in Bridal at Vera Wang to editorial work at The Knot
I learned so much while living in NYC, but Maine is where I belong
So in 2018 my husband and I moved back to Maine
Where our family is from and we now call Portland home with our dog Morty
I got really sick and was eventually diagnosed with a chronic illness called POTS
And that is when I started making art again
Which lead me to starting my own business - New Meadow Designs
All my ART is inspired by Maine and I paint by HAND on almost EVERYTHING
One of the most popular items that I paint is L.L.Bean tote bags!
The first one I painted had a blue oyster shell on it - and from there I couldn’t stop painting on tote bags or painting oysters
