BRANDON’S CONSTRUCTION PET PEEVE:

“JUST COVER IT UP.”

If there’s one thing that drives Brandon crazy, it’s finding a problem that someone clearly knew was there…

and instead of fixing it, they covered it.

Rot behind new trim.

Water damage hidden under new material.

A questionable repair buried behind something pretty.

A structural issue that got a cosmetic Band-Aid.

Because making something LOOK fixed and actually FIXING it are two very different things.

And eventually?

The house usually tells on you.

SUNDAY DREAMING…

DIY… OR CALL SOMEONE?

We’re all for tackling projects yourself.

Sometimes DIY makes perfect sense.

Paint the room? Go for it.

Swap out some cabinet hardware? Absolutely.

Build a shelf? Give it a shot.

But then there are those projects where Brandon looks at something and says:

“Yeah…you probably want someone who knows what they’re doing.”

So how does he decide?

If getting it wrong could cause water damage, structural problems, safety issues, or turn a small repair into a much more expensive one…

it might be time to call someone.

Especially when you’re dealing with things like:

Honestly, that might be one of our favorite questions.

Because not every construction project starts with:

YES, WE TALK ABOUT CONSTRUCTION AT DINNER.

Probably more than we should.

A normal conversation between Brandon and Jenni can go something like:

Jenni: “I love what they did with that kitchen.”

Brandon: “Yeah, but look at that trim.”

Jenni: “Do you think we could build something like that?”

Brandon: “Sure. But I’d change…”

And suddenly we've spent 20 minutes redesigning a stranger's house.

That's life when your family owns a construction company.

We notice houses.

We notice craftsmanship.

We notice weird layouts.
