Greetings from Vance Creek Angus,
Growing old is something that happens to all of us. When you’re young, you think growing old is something that happens to older people, but as you get into your 50’s, it’s something that you have to think about and sometimes you have to make changes. With that said, we are changing the way we sell our beef.
The big change that we will be making is how we deliver our beef. Starting in 2027, we will stop delivering our beef and move to a system where you, the customer, will pick up your meat directly from the butcher (this is the way most grass-fed farmers sell their beef).
Unfortunately, we will not have any beef to sell in 2026. For the last few years, we’ve been butchering animals that were only 17 to 18 months old and having to combine animals together to reach the quarter and half weights we guarantee (105 pounds for a quarter and 210 pounds for a half). As a result, the animals that we would normally butcher this summer will be held through the winter and butchered in 2027. These animals will be older and bigger and be able to meet the weights required for quarters and halves.
We apologize for the inconvenience of having to find beef elsewhere in 2026 and we hope that in 2027 you will come back to buying our beef. We understand that we will lose some customers because of this change and we want to say thank you to all of you that have supported us.
Beef farming is something that we still enjoy. We’re already looking forward to our upcoming calving season and making hay this summer. Farming is an incredible profession. It’s a lot of hard work but there’s also a lot of satisfaction in raising animals that are healthy and good for the environment.
In early 2027, we will be sending out letters that explain the ordering process in more detail and taking orders. If you have any questions, please feel free to call/text us at (715) 690-9097.
Sincerely,
Karl, Stephanie, Abe and Christian
