Our state-of-the-art garden center was built in 2004 and features plant care products, garden tools, bird products, flower containers, statuary, home decor, a silk/dried floral department and a gift boutique. Sasanqua camellias are one of our favorite fall-blooming shrubs, bringing beautiful color to the garden just as many other plants are winding down for the season. ā€˜Hana-Jimaā€™ is especially lovely with its delicate, bright pink blooms and cheerful yellow centers against glossy evergreen foliage.

And the best part? Sasanquas are surprisingly easy to grow!

A few growing tips:
ā€¢ Plant in morning sun or partial shade.
ā€¢ Choose well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
ā€¢ Water regularly while establishing.
ā€¢ Mulch to protect the shallow roots and retain moisture.
ā€¢ Prune just after flowering, if needed.

Once established, sasanquas are relatively low-maintenance and make beautiful foundation plantings, informal hedges, or garden focal points. Fall is a wonderful time to plant, and these beauties are just getting started at Fairview!
