🔨 Celebrating Careers in Construction Month!

Meet George and Kurt from York Vo-Tech and Mason from Red Lion Schools! They’re gaining hands-on experience at Security Fence Company, putting classroom lessons to work and building their skills.

Areas of concentration:
*George: Welding
*Kurt: Welding, wiring, & assembling aluminum panels
*Mason: Welding, cutting, and notching

We asked them a few questions (Q&A) about their experience so far:

❓ How does what you learned in school connect to what you do on the job?
🔹 George: Enjoys MIG welding and sees how geometry plays a big part in lining up pipes accurately.
🔹 Kurt & Mason: Learning the basics in welding class gave them a foundation to build on and strengthen their skills at work.

❓ What surprised you about how the workplace differs from the classroom?
🔹 George: Found the metal welds a little more challenging at first, but got the hang of it within a couple of days. He enjoys being able to focus on a job without interruptions.
🔹 Kurt: Enjoys the jobs and felt prepared for the transition, adapting quickly to the work.
🔹 Mason: Noticed the faster pace and found he could focus better on the jobs he was doing.

❓ What do you like most about working at SFC?

🔹 Mason: Welding, notching, and cutting pipe—and having a lot of fun!
🔹 George: Working with his coworkers and keeping busy with a variety of jobs!
🔹 Kurt: Having consistent work and a variety of tasks beyond welding.
