Stacy's Little Homestead

Stacy's Little Homestead Welcome to Coon Hill Homestead. This little journey began in January of 2024 and I took it solo in August of 2024. Follow along!

I'm Stacy, your unfiltered, local, crazy chicken lady. I'm making what I can from scratch and attempting to grow my own food.

My morning coffee routine.

This happens 365 days a year, no matter the weather, no matter the mood, this is the first thing I do when I wake up. It's not just habit, its survival!

Do you need coffee to survive?

How do you take it?

When you sell farm fresh eggs to help support your feed bill, giving them away for free may seem unwise.

I believe everyone should have access to farm fresh eggs, and I am so greatful that I am blessed enough to donate without hesitation. I hope to eventually add fresh produce and fresh baked bread to my donations as well. I feel like this is something God has called me to do with the blessings I have been given.

I have been in the situation in my life, where the kindness of a stranger made a world of difference. It seems only right to pass on that kindness now that i am in a situation where I can do so.

Not every homesteading venture has to be done to gain assets. Sometimes feeding those in need should be the goal.

You’ve survived Monday, Tuesday, and probably at least one chicken-related emergency. 😂

The laundry is multiplying, the garden needs attention, the chickens are plotting something, and somehow you’re already thinking about what to bake next.

But hey, we’re halfway through the week! We’ve got this! 🌻🐓

Tell me, what’s causing the most chaos on your homestead this week? 👇🤣

Operation chicken stock is happening today. I ran out of homemade chicken stock a few weeks ago and store bought just won't cut it.

In my roaster, I have 2 raw Cornish hens, 1 previously cooked and eaten chicken carcass, 1 head of celery, 1 onion, 4-5 whole carrots, a bunch of wilted peppers from my garden basket, and some onion scraps and skins that I had stored in the freezer.

I don't add any seasoning to my stock other than salt, anything else can be added when its used.

This will cook for about 24 hours and I will add more water as needed.

A few beauties today....and a fairy egg.

The girls are either withholding because they're still mad at me for dipping them, or the shortening days are starting to affect them. Two days in a row of being about 6 eggs short at collection time.
