Employee Shoutout!

If you’ve visited our yard recently, chances are you’ve met Francisco, and left with a smile.

Francisco joined us in 2022 after five years in the landscaping industry. In just one year, he worked his way up from Head of Synthetic to Sales Associate and Closing Manager. Whether helping contractors or retail customers, he brings care and attention to every interaction, offering support in both English and Spanish.

We’re lucky to have him, and so are our customers.Want to learn more about the Western Turf Family? Visit https://westernturf.com/about/staff/

Fancy a dry-creek bed feature in your yard that doubles as drainage? Looking for a stone that will feature your native plants and greenery?

River rock is a natural choice that enhances your yard’s drainage, helps suppress weeds, and can provide structure to the design of your yard.

The right rock can make your yard both more beautiful and more functional.

We carry river rock along with dozens of other types of rock, soil and aggregates, whatever your project is. westernturf.com/rock-soil/

🍁 One of the best things about Northern Nevada? That relief of fall weather after scorching summers. 🍂

There’s no better way to get the most of our collective cooldown than a proper deck.

MoistureShield composite decking is the only decking product with zero structural field failures for more than 30 years.

Peace and quiet on an October night now comes with added peace of mind.

🍂 As the trees start changing colors and shedding their leaves, they’re bound to wind up collecting on your yard. 🍁

Allowing leaves and other organic material to collect on your yard can be a recipe for fungus like brown patch, dollar spot, and even mushrooms.

Aim to rake your yard during fall foliage season at least weekly, after a major rain or wind storm, and more often of you have many trees. Snow storm in the forecast? Make sure to rake before major snowfall to avoid mold growth.

As always, we’re here if you have any questions about keeping your lawn healthy through all of our seasons.

This photo is one of the first photos taken of our Palomino Valley farm back in 1986. After farming for a short time in Stagecoach, Harry & Maurine Fahnestock along with their family purchased the now 400-acre farm where all of our proprietary sod is grown today.

🌱 Looking to prepare your lawn for winter? Now’s the time to apply your fall blend fertilizer, typically 21-7-14. 🌱

With the summer heat behind us, cool season grasses are in their active growing period and will be storing the extra energy for the winter.

If your grass is especially long, now’s the time to start incrementally reducing height. No more than 1/3rd of the blade height to avoid stressing your lawn.

We’re always here if you have questions! If you have concerns about preparing your lawn before the first freeze, give us a call at 775-356-8873 and we’ll be glad to answer any questions you have.

What works in one climate doesn’t always work in another.
That’s why we grow our turf here.

Our blends are cultivated specifically for the High Sierra's transitional climate—designed to handle the heat, the cold, and the in-between seasons that make this region unique.

From our farm to your yard, it’s grown with our home in mind.

We are turf.
