Canton Renovation — Progress Update

We’ve made some good progress since our last update!

The flooring crew came in and tore out the old floors, which slowed us down a little that day, but we were right back at it the next morning.

Our partner Justin, with J Gould Construction installed the remaining kitchen cabinets, and working on updating the upper cabinet doors. We’ve got a little Bondo work to do on the cabinet faces and will be installing hidden hinges to match the lower cabinet doors.

Most of the enamel work has now received two sprayed coats. We’ve still got a little more to finish up in the kitchen, but we’re just about ready to start painting walls!

Things are coming along, and it’s nice to see all that preparation and hard work starting to come together. Great group of guys working hard to bring it all together. Still plenty to do, but we’re getting there!

RENOVATION PROGRESS UPDATE | CANTON, MISSISSIPPI

Quality results start long before the final coat of paint!
We've been making great progress on this residential renovation, and we're sharing a behind-the-scenes look at everything that's gone into the project so far.
Our crew at McCoy Painting spent approximately two weeks on preparation alone, including extensive drywall repairs to ceilings and walls, ceiling texture repairs, sanding, caulking, surface preparation, and thorough dust removal.

Attention to detail matters to us. After inspecting the texture in some of the repaired ceiling areas, we weren't completely satisfied. Rather than leave it, we went back, sanded the texture down, applied additional joint compound, sanded again, and reapplied the texture for a better result.

Our trim and cabinetry work has involved two sprayed coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Semi-Gloss, with careful sanding and dust removal between coats. We're using Sherwin-Williams Cashmere on ceilings and walls.

The kitchen renovation has included demolition of the existing backsplash, countertops, and lower cabinets, followed by installation of new cabinetry. We've wrapped and protected the newly installed cabinets ahead of the flooring crew's scheduled demolition of the existing tile.
Once the kitchen tile is removed, we'll complete the remaining kitchen painting and spray the new lower cabinets.

We're also converting the existing upper kitchen cabinets to concealed hinges to match the new lower cabinets, including drilling and hardware installation.
The guest bathroom painting is complete! The customer decided to keep the existing tile and countertops, so we took extra care while painting the ceiling, trim, and cabinets to ensure those surfaces remained protected.
New flooring, fixtures, and other finishing touches will follow as the renovation progresses.

We're aiming to wrap up our interior work by next Friday!

RENOVATION PROGRESS UPDATE — CANTON, MISSISSIPPI!

It’s been another busy week for the McCoy Painting crew, and we’re making some great progress on this whole-home renovation!

We’ve completed the demolition and removal of the existing kitchen lower cabinets and tile backsplash, and the new cabinetry has arrived on-site!

During demolition, we discovered an area of water-damaged drywall and insulation near the kitchen sink. Before installing the new cabinets, we’ll be removing and replacing those materials, inspecting the exposed framing, and addressing any mold, mildew, or moisture-related damage that may be present.

There’s no sense in making something look good on the outside while leaving problems hidden underneath!

Throughout the house, we’ve continued drywall repairs, surface preparation, and ceiling work. We’ve already sprayed the ceilings, but after inspecting them, I noticed a couple of areas where the texture wasn’t quite up to my standards.

Rather than leave them as they were, I went back and sanded those areas down so we can make the necessary corrections and get everything blended properly.

QUALITY BEFORE SPEED. EVERY TIME.

At McCoy Painting LLC, quality workmanship is our highest priority. We believe in keeping projects moving and maintaining good production, but never at the expense of doing the job right.

We’ve also removed the cabinet doors throughout the house in preparation for repainting. We’re hoping to begin spraying enamel on the cabinet doors and trim around Wednesday or Thursday of next week, provided everything stays on schedule.

I also want to recognize the great group of guys we’ve got working on this project. I’m fortunate to have a crew that genuinely cares about quality and takes pride in their work. Having people around you who share those same standards makes all the difference!

We’re thankful for the opportunities we’ve been given and hope to continue staying busy, growing McCoy Painting LLC, and building a strong, dependable team for the future.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but we’re making steady progress, and we’re looking forward to sharing more as everything comes together!

A little McCoy Painting throwback.

These photos are from a commercial exterior project we completed about 11 years ago here in Central Mississippi. Hard to believe it’s been that long.

This project included extensive pressure washing and surface prep, lift work, long storefront elevations, columns, arches, decorative trim, and architectural details throughout the property.

Looking back at older jobs like this is a good reminder of how long we’ve been doing commercial work and how much McCoy Painting has grown since then.

Whether it’s residential, commercial, or industrial work, one thing hasn’t changed — we want to leave behind work we’re proud to put our name on.

A little behind-the-scenes progress from our Canton renovation project. 👀

Our guys have been putting in the work on the part of the job that makes all the difference in the finished product — drywall repairs, pocket-door repairs, patching, sanding, caulking and trim prep, and getting everything ready before we really start moving through the painting.

We’ve gotten a couple of ceilings painted along the way, but we’re not rushing the prep or the repairs just to make it look like we’re moving faster. We’d rather take the time to get it right.

The customer chose prefabricated kitchen cabinets, and we’ll be picking those up tomorrow as our partner J Gould Construction gets ready to move into the lower-cabinet portion of the renovation.

Our crew is doing a great job, and this one is starting to take shape.
