The sunroom has always been a little tricky for me to pick a design direction (thus the stalled-out paint progress), but the need to dampen the heat of the afternoon sun forced me to make an update!
We’d been using curtains to help control the energy costs of cooling the room, which, of course, sort of defeats the purpose of all of these beautiful windows. Plus, the tension rods would slump, and I thought a cafe curtain would still allow for privacy (lots going on here in terms of need, since E likes to play in here). I picked a leafy window film for the upper half that closely matches the way the trees look through the windows, and it includes a little bit of refracted light for whimsy’s sake. I’d much prefer real stained glass, but that won’t be in the budget for quite some time. And it still makes a difference in helping us keep the room temp cool! Calling this a win.
