These chairs are not even recognizable from their original condition. The owner had them stripped and refinished (I do not offer this service) and then brought them to me for new seagrass seats. This is a great example of seeing beyond the sad condition of a piece of furniture to its future potential! Thank you so much to Virginia Brown!

Shoutout to Generations Antique Furniture Refinishing Restoration & Repair for the outstanding restoration job!

~NEVER FORGET~

Remember the thousands of innocent people who died on this day.

It is our sacred responsibility to make sure the younger generation knows WHAT happened, WHO did it, and WHY they did it.

May God help our country.

Four seats in pretwisted natural rush and sealed with shellac. This material, while challenging to work with, looks amazing when finished. Thanks to Anne Marsala for bringing them in!

Hello everyone. The summer is winding down. I've been trying to finishing up some projects before it's time to start back to school. Here is a set of machine or pressed cane seats that I finished this weekend. Unfortunately I forgot to take a final "after" picture, but you get the idea for how they turned out. The customer requested that the new seats to be stained to closely match the old seats. I do offer this service if desired. Thanks to Patrick Hayes for your business!

This rocking chair was built by the inmates of the Kentucky State penitentiary, most likely in the mid 1800's. I am just continually amazed at the quality of work that people put out in that time period. You simply cannot find new furniture being built like this any more and that is so sad.

I have rewoven the seat using 6mm binder cane in a zig-zag herringbone style. This type of seat will last for decades, perhaps even generations, if it is properly cared for. I hope the new owners of this chair appreciate both its history and beauty! Thank you once again to Michael Hall for your business!

Check back soon for the final pictures of this chair. This pattern is beautiful...but oh my aching fingers! 😩

I'm working on these porch rockers this week. The seats are not my usual "cane" material, but are made of 1/2 inch polypropylene webbing. Stay tuned for "after" pictures.

Finished up this lovely little sewing rocker for Greg Cooper this week. Isn't it the cutest?
