Here is another really cool plant a lot if people don’t know about, Spotted Beebalm (Monarda punctata). A Missouri native that is short lived but will seed itself but not aggressively. We have this one in a pot at the nursery all season. I cut the seed heads off a while back and now it is blooming again. It is a magnet for bumblebees and butterflies. It smells like most beebalms so the bunnies and deer don’t like it. It has proven that it makes a lovely container plant or does well in the ground in drier locations. It hates to be too wet. Put this one on your list for next year!

SALE! I feel like celebrating the fact that it is finally nice outside! A flat of 10 plants is now $70 instead of $80. All 2 and 3 gallon trees and shrubs are $15. For the next 6 weeks or so it is absolutely the BEST time to plant. Way better than spring, if you haven’t seen my post about please call me and I will tell you why. Our availability is on our website.
Pick up is available in Kirkwood or Robertsville.

Some of the adorable Cuphea viscosisissima (Blue Waxweed) is still going strong at my house. On top of the cute little purple flowers, it has beautiful flaming foliage for fall. It is an annual but will self seed but not in an annoying way. The rabbits and deer leave it alone. It is perfect in containers or in the ground. I have missed the seeds the last few years because the pop as soon as they are ripe and are hard to get. I got some today though! Whoo hoo! It should be available next year. It is a glade plant so thrives in dry or dry rocky soil. What is not to love?!

You have not had fun until you spend all day extracting seeds out of berries by hand. I saved 4 kinds for today because it is one of my least favorite things to do. I was able to do 2 of them in the food processor but the other 2 weren’t working well. I am on the last one which is Black Chokeberry. At least I am catch up on the new seasons of a lot of shows 😝.
