Guys! 🐸
Guess what hatched?! The TINIEST little grains of rice- sorry, TADPOLES I've ever seen! 🥰
The African Dwarf Frog tadpoles are doing well! Two days ago, I collected around 22 fertilized eggs. It's hard to count exactly how many, but at least 10 are swimming about! (I may have counted the same one twice 😬)
In the second photo, I've circled 6 tadpoles! The yellow dot you see in their stomach is actually the yolk sac they formed while inside the egg! For the next 2-3 days, they will rely on their yolk sac for nutrients. They don't even form a mouth until around 5 days old! 🤯
I will begin frequent water changes tomorrow once they're a 𝙩𝙖𝙙 stonger (pun intended!) Clean water is critical during the first stages of development. If everything works out, there should be baby froglets in 6 weeks!
Stay tuned!
