The shiplap is done. The lighting is not.

Modern farmhouse lighting comes down to four moves:

1. Start with a wood-blade fan. The grain softens the whole room.
2. Let warm metal do the balancing, so the look stays modern instead of going full rustic.
3. Add a lantern chandelier for the shape that says farmhouse.

How many lumens does your room actually need? There is one sum, and it takes about five seconds.

Multiply the room's square footage by its brightness number. Living room and bedroom sit around 10 to 20. Kitchen and dining want 30 to 40. A bathroom vanity needs 70 to 80, which is the one most people underestimate. Hallways only need 5 to 10, so you can stop feeling guilty about that dim landing.

Two things the sum will not tell you. Ceiling height, wall colour, and how you actually use the room all move the number, so treat it as a starting point. And spread those lumens across a few fixtures rather than loading them into one, then put the lot on a dimmer. That is the difference between a room that is lit and a room that glows.
