A painter who works your area has something at stake that one passing through does not. Their next job comes from your street: the neighbour who sees the ladders, the friend who asks who did the outside, the review under their name in their own town. That is not a promise about anybody, it is just what is at stake. Ask how long they have worked your area, and check. If you want a painter who works your area, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

If your home was built before 1978 there is a real chance lead paint is under the layers you can see. It is not dangerous sitting quietly on a wall. It becomes a problem when it is sanded or scraped into dust, which is exactly what painting prep involves, and there are rules about how that work is done. Ask a painter how they handle it before anyone picks up a scraper. If you want to know what to ask about an older home, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

Those dark spots on siding or a bathroom ceiling are often mildew, not dirt. Paint over mildew and it grows straight back through the new coat, usually within a season. It has to be killed and washed off, and the surface dried, before primer goes on. Quick test: a drop of diluted bleach. If the spot fades, it is growing, and covering it will not stop it. If you want to know what your spots probably are, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

Painting kitchen cabinets is not painting a wall with smaller brushes. Cabinets get handled, wiped and knocked every day, and the paint has to grip a surface that was often factory finished to shed exactly that. That means degreasing, proper sanding or a bonding primer, and a lot more cure time before the doors go back on. Skip it and it looks great for a month. If you want to know what your cabinets need, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

If you can see stripes on a painted wall when the light comes in sideways, those are lap marks. They are not the paint. They happen when a roller goes back over a section that has already started drying. The fix is keeping a wet edge and finishing a whole wall in one pass, which is planning more than skill, and it is very hard to fix afterwards. If you want to know if those are lap marks, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

Paint that is dry to the touch is not finished. It keeps curing for days, sometimes weeks, and cold or humid weather slows that right down. Push furniture back against it, hang pictures or scrub it too early and it marks, sticks or peels. A crew recoating on a damp afternoon because the wall felt dry is how a perfect finish ends up tacky. If you want to know how long to leave your room, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

Most people repaint years after they should have. Interior walls go five to ten years depending on traffic and light. Exterior is five to ten too, but exposure decides it: a south or west wall fails long before the sheltered sides. Don't wait for peeling. Chalking, hairline cracks and colour gone flat are the signals, and catching it there is a repaint instead of a restoration. If you want to know where yours is, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

Two painting quotes can be thousands apart and both honest. They are pricing different jobs. Ask three things: how many coats, which line of paint, and what surface prep is included. A quote that says paint walls can mean one coat of builder grade over whatever is there. A quote that names the product and the prep is a different project. If you want to know what to ask, check below or visit lsrmaintenance.net.

Good painters use less tape than you think. Tape does not make a straight line. It makes an edge paint can creep under, and on textured walls it always does. A steady hand and a good brush cuts a cleaner line faster than taping a whole room. Tape has its place, on floors and fixtures. If a crew tapes everything, they are covering for the brushwork. A paint colour looks different in your house than on the chip. North facing rooms get cool light and push colours grey. South facing rooms warm everything up. A chip is two inches; a wall is two hundred square feet, and colour intensifies as it multiplies. Sample big, on more than one wall, and look morning and night before you commit.
