Planting pansies in the fall might be one of our very best garden hacks.

Did you know pansies love cooler weather, especially in places like Colorado and Utah, where the summers can get intense. 🏜️

They love to root in while the soil is still warm so get them planted ASAP if you want to get colorful blooms for two seasons.

And don’t worry about the snow! They love a good snow bath to protect them from the cold wind in the winter time.

You’ve got Green tomatoes but frost in your forecast? Cooler nights headed your way?

Be sure to harvest everything you can before a freezing temp ruins all of your red and green tomatoes.

Did you know they will continue to ripen inside?

We like to lay them single file, stem side down if possible on cookie sheets, or stainless steel trays

Some people even like to place them in a cardboard box - but honestly, it’s easier to check for mold if they are laying out flat with good air circulation

It might take a few weeks for them to ripen, but just be patient 🍅

We have more than doubled our tomato harvest using this method and we can’t wait for you to try it!

I’m m not sure we’re ready to let go of summer just yet but these fall beauties make the bittersweet transition a little bit easier.

Who is decorating for fall this week?

When decorating your fall front porch don’t forget that sunny porches will need to be watered more frequently and shady porches can be a little less often.

We love mums, kale, coneflower, pansies, and grasses this time of year as well as getting all of our perennials into the ground.

Fall is here and so is mum season! A few tips to keep in mind:

The mums that we grow for Home Depot and Walmart stores already have their blooms and buds set so that you can grow them in full sun or in the shade.

If you want to plant them in the ground outside, make sure they are in a full sun location so that they can set blooms for next year.

While mums hate drying out, they also hate having wet feet, so make sure they are hydrated and have good drainage.

If you can find our planters with the word “Hydro planter” on the tag this is an excellent way to keep your mum’s happy.

September is when gardens start showing off for fall.

Especially those Pinterest worthy front porches. We grow plants for The Home Depot and Walmart stores, so you know we’re excited for spooky season too!

Mums are a fall front porch classic and we love seeing them as an annual AND a perennial!

Make sure you give them plenty of moisture with GREAT drainage.

We love combining them with kale, grasses, pansies, rudbeckia, creeping Jenny and more.
