🍓𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺: 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
🍓I’ve spent 14 years in horticultural lighting & CEA. This impressive strawberry vertical farm looks spectacular, yet 3 critical design gaps will hurt yield & fruit quality.
👉𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲
One single lamp across a 40–45cm width creates uneven PPFD. The center gets strong light, while side canopies & hanging strawberries suffer insufficient irradiation, directly impacting sugar accumulation. Adding a supplementary light row fixes uniformity and stabilizes fruit sweetness.
👉𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Increase tier spacing by 5–10cm. Extra vertical clearance improves light pe*******on into canopy, reduces heat buildup from lamps, and gives strawberry runners more room to develop.
👉𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺
Install hanging circulation fans every ~2m. Consistent airflow breaks leaf boundary layers, cuts down humidity & mold risk, and boosts pollination for indoor strawberry blooms.
Questions for VF strawberry Growers:
1. What’s your biggest challenge in indoor strawberry production?
2. How do you tune PPFD uniformity for hanging berry crops?
Happy to hear comments & corrections from every CEA experts.
