Mums are cool and all - but have you ever had fall planters updated with every EXCEPT them?

Mums are a classic look for fall but come with a few drawbacks. First, they don’t provide a food source for vital pollinators as they have been bred to have mostly petals and little centers! Second, they take a really REALLY long time to rebloom so it’s usually a bloom once a season type of planting. It’s really tough to plan a strong design when your main bloom is so unreliable.

Enter our other options: celosia! Coleus! Pansies! Violas! Asters! So many shapes and colors to choose from it’s hard to run out of combos of these cool weather tolerant blooms.

Rain is gone - let’s grow on 🌻🍂 now that the storms have passed it’s time for perennial planting in addition to our beloved fall annuals. Fall is a great time to add returning blooms to your in ground garden beds as the lower temperatures and moderate weather helps plants root and settle in before frost - just make sure you don’t wait!

Swipe through to meet my littlest helper!!!! 🥹🧡🤎🐶

Fall planter update for one of my favorite clients and locations - her front porch is covered (keeping those planters safe from sun scorch or heavy winds) but gets enough indirect and partial sun to keep flowers blooming from March to November 💙🤍 With an abundance of Annabelle hydrangeas on the property I was able to make a quick front door wreath (not pictured) and dress up her porch pumpkin display with a little extra whimsy - fairy lights and all the trimmings 💚

It was too good to let go… for now!

My client and I both agreed this part sun summer container still needed its time to shine as it was doing so well and still looked incredible. It’s thriving!!! While most of these tropicals will not survive the NY frost we are hoping to give it a hibernation chop and see who can brave it until next spring, fingers crossed!

Wendell Berry 💚 it’s hard to find another one like him.

As I learned of his passing this week I told Spencer that I was sad to know we would never meet in this life, as I always believed we would make good conversation and eventually great friends. He replied that we are already great friends - we share common interests and curiosities, we advocate for the environment and for its care, we shared the same earth. It’s nice to know the connection between him and I was there despite not actually meeting ever in person.

Rest in Peace Wendell 🌻💚🧡
