This is where a pool starts to take shape.

Gunite is pneumatically applied to build the structural shell of the pool- but shooting is only part of the process. As the material goes in, our crew works it by hand, cutting and shaping the walls, steps, benches and transitions to bring the design to life.

It's messy, physical, precise work- and once the gunite is in, what started as an excavation finally starts looking like a pool. Can't wait to show off the finished build!

Built by hand, built to last.

Some pools are designed to look good from every angle — even straight down.

Clean symmetry and the right lighting bring this entire space together. From the pool and decking to the surrounding landscape, every element feels like it belongs exactly where it is.

A great pool doesn’t just fill a backyard. It becomes a part of the overall aesthetic of the home.

A remodel is about more than making an old pool look new.

This pool came to us with aged, yellowing plaster, surface pitting, damaged coping, and flooded lights. Once work got underway, we uncovered conditions that made this remodel more involved than we initially anticipated.

Projects like this don’t always go exactly according to plan. Existing conditions can reveal challenges that aren’t visible until demolition begins, and this one required some extra time, preparation, and problem-solving along the way.

But that makes it even better to see everything coming together.

From removing deteriorated materials and properly preparing the existing shell to installing new finishes, tile, coping, and fixtures, every step has been about getting this pool back where it needs to be.

This is what 40,000 PSI of water does to old plaster.

Before a pool can receive a new finish, the existing surface has to be properly prepared. Hydroblasting uses ultra-high-pressure water to remove old, deteriorated plaster and expose a clean, sound surface underneath.

Why go through all of this?

Because a new finish is only as good as the surface it’s bonded to. Leaving behind weak or compromised material can create problems with adhesion and shorten the life of the new finish.

It’s one of the messier stages of a pool remodel— but also one of the most important.

Good plaster starts long before the new plaster goes in.

Shooting the gunite shell is only the beginning of the curing process.

Once the shell is in place, we use sprinklers to keep the gunite moist. Concrete doesn’t gain strength simply by “drying”—it gains strength through a chemical reaction called hydration, where the cement reacts with water and forms the compounds that bind the concrete together.

If the surface loses moisture too quickly, that hydration process can be disrupted and the shell can become more susceptible to shrinkage cracking and reduced surface durability.

Keeping the gunite consistently damp during the early stages of curing helps control moisture loss and supports proper strength development throughout the shell.

It may look like we’re just watering concrete, but it’s an important part of building a pool correctly from the start.

Days 17–18 | The vision is starting to come together.

New tile is going in, coping is being cut and set, and the details that will define the finished pool are beginning to take shape.

There’s still work ahead, but this is the stage where the transformation becomes much easier to see — one tile and one piece at a time.

Follow along as we continue bringing this pool back to life.

A reflection of good design.

Sometimes the pool is what brings the entire backyard together.

Clean lines, rich textures, and still water create a reflection that doubles the visual impact of the home. It’s more than a place to swim—it becomes one of the defining features of the property.

A view worth building around.
