We’re back with our third annual Fall Sale, and dare we say it’s our best one yet!

Echo Valley Natives turns 25 this year (Beth started the nursery back in 2001!), and this fall marks the 5 year anniversary in our new space in Sandy. So we’ve decided to put about 25% of our inventory on sale to celebrate 🎉

Saturday September 26
through
Sunday October 11
OVER 50 PNW NATIVE PLANT SPECIES AT WHOLESALE PRICING TO THE PUBLIC!

Sale prices are generally by container size:
4”—$3.50
1 gallons—$7
2 gallons—$14
3 gallons—$21
Large/odd sized—as marked

You can find the entire sale plant list posted on our website (it’s too long to share here!) But it includes lots of perennial flowers (goldenrod, coneflower, lupine, potentilla, etc) as well as some great trees/shrubs (3 kinds of native maples, oceanspray, crabapple, salmonberry, roses and more!)

Look for the flagged sections around the nursery to help you shop the sale! And of course our friendly staff are happy to help, too. The sale is available for walk-in retail shoppers during regular business hours from Sep 26 thru Oct 11. We reserve the right to end the sale on any given species if we reach low stock, so shop early for best selection!

Fall is the best time of year to get PNW Native Plants in the ground! Beyond the 50+ sale species, we have another 100+ natives in our inventory, still at great prices compared to many places in town! (Again, you can find the full list on our website).

We hope we can make it worth the drive out to Sandy to help create a nature haven in your backyard this fall! Come on out for some of the best deals of the year 💥

Who else is loving this early hint of fall!!? Thank you Mother Nature for a beautiful dose of rain!

This is your reminder that we still have a GREAT sale going on Coyote Bush! A superstar evergreen shrub that’s tough enough to roll with the punches.

We had a mast year of seedlings sprout up around the nursery a couple years back and we’re sharing the love by selling these at wholesale prices!!
4”—$3.50
1gal—$7
2gal—$16

They are all very nice size and would LOVE to get in the ground this fall!

Coyote Bush are just coming into bloom, so we’ll be able to start ID’ing each shrub to see if it’s a female or male. The one pictured is male—they glow gold in bloom! The females have wispy white flowers and bear the seeds, but only if they have been pollinated by a nearby male! Watch for pink (female) or blue (male) ribbons tied to the shrubs to know which is which!

Sale is ongoing until we knock down our inventory! And we have so many other great natives in stock—come out and celebrate fall rains by bringing home some new plant friends! 🌧️ 🪴

Open 10-5 for walk in retail shopping, except 10-4 on Sundays and CLOSED Weds!

Fall gardening season is creeping in, are you planning yet??!

We have finally updated our availability list for all you planning types out there! It’s a nice long list with about 200 PNW native species in stock—from wildflowers/grasses/sedges, up to shrubs and trees! You can find it on our website, give us a ring if you have further questions. And we promise to update it often as we dive into the best time of year to get perennial natives into the ground! We will be adding more plants to the inventory occasionally throughout fall.

Of course, you don’t HAVE to plan ahead! At Echo Valley you don’t need an appointment or pre-order to shop! Just stop by during retail hours and you can wander at your own pace around our almost 1 acre retail space. Or you can ask for help/advice from one of our staff! There are really only 3 of us running the show out here—Owner Beth, Renee (that’s me, hi!), and Hannah! We all love to hear about your projects and help you select plants, if we have time. The more you know about your garden conditions and goals, the better we can help you 😉

And psst—if you’re still here, we are gearing up for another FALL SALE! This Fall will mark 5 years in our new space in Sandy and 25 years since Beth started the nursery in Oregon City! Good cause for a sale, we say!! We will announce more details soon, but you can plan on finding some of the best deals in town on select native species from September 25–Oct 11! Save the dates 🌟

August vibes around Echo Valley—flowers, fruit, & faded light through wildfire haze. Late summer bloomers have entered the arena and it’s starting to feel like summer’s on the downward slope! If you pay attention, you can already notice the shifting patterns of light as the sun starts to drop lower on the horizon each day.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes with our small team to grow on our seedlings so they’ll be ready for a fall debut! We’ll have a really nice selection for ya, both shrubs and perennial flowers! We promise to update our posted availability list soon..In between taking care of the nursery and squeezing in some last fun moments before summer slips away! Enjoy these last few weeks of August & clear air while we have it!

What a lovely summer we’re having! No harsh heat waves and cooling summer storms have the plants looking happy and healthy! We hope you are getting out and enjoying all the beauty that is summer in the PNW.

If you’re driving up Mt Hood for some fun, feel free to stop by for a visit! We’re just off HWY 26, so lots of folks stop by to stretch their legs and get some inspiration for their native gardens. We’re hanging out here all summer keeping plants watered, potting up seedlings, and the like. But we usually have more time to help you brainstorm the perfect plants for your projects this time of year!

If ya can’t make it in person, here’s a sampling of a few things that we’ve been enjoying lately around Echo Valley! This fall will be 5 years in our new nursery space in Sandy. Hard to believe! But every year it’s getting prettier and prettier out here and even MORE full of life thanks to the power of native plants! 😍💚🌻

SUMMER SALE ON COYOTE BUSH!
Baccharis piluaris
1 gallons—$7 (previously $12!)
2 gallons—$16 (previously $24!)
Sale is on until we knock down our inventory, get ‘em while they’re hot!

Mama Coyote Bush had a giant litter of pups at Echo Valley last year and now it’s time to find them new homes! Coyote Bush is a dioecious plant, meaning separate male and female individuals. We have both sexes planted in our native hedgerow at the nursery and last year we had a mast year for seedlings! Literal hundreds sprung up in the wood chips at the feet of their mama (and some surprisingly far away!) We potted up a bunch of them over the winter and, as most kids do, they are growing up way too fast and need to fledge the nest! Are you looking to adopt a great drought tolerante native shrub to your home garden?

Coyote Bush is a fantastic evergreen shrub that’s almost bullet proof. Unlike other evergreen natives like Manzanita or Ceanothus that can be fussier to establish or prune in the garden, Baccharis seem to tolerate a wide variety of soil types (including heavy clay) and is VERY easy to prune! In fact, you can cut it back to a literal stump and it will regenerate in one growing season (we had to do this to our mama coyote this year as she got a bit floppy).

Many of our other native evergreen shrubs also get rather tall, whereas coyote will likely stay under 8 feet (and if they do get bigger, it’s very easy to maintain them to a smaller size!). Add in drought tolerance, late season flowers for pollinators, and boom you’ve got yourself a great garden habitat plant!

The 1 gallon plants are all seedlings from around the nursery and we haven’t seen them flower yet, so it is unknown whether they are male or female. We’re assuming it’s about 50/50 shot (although this isn’t always the case…we shall see!) The 2 gallons we have on sale were mostly grown by another grower, most of which are female ID’d (pink ribbon). We are excited to have the genetic diversity in our seedling batch!

Hopefully this plethora of seedlings is a ‘problem’ we have every couple years so we can keep supplying coyotes to the masses at great deals!
