Savoonga Water and Sewer customers. It’s been a tough year for us all. ARUC and Operators have been really lenient on shut offs due to rising prices and Government Shutdowns. Also the system suffered after COVID when all the relief funds went away. We’ll continue to be easy on shutoffs throughout the winter. That being said we’ll be enforcing shutoffs regularly come spring and early summer to catch the system back up. Please consider catching up on your water and sewer bills if you don’t want any interruptions to your water and sewer services. Sorry for any inconveniences and Happy New Year.

To answer the lingering question, yes we can do laundry for the time being. Use as normal. Not like COVID buy all the tissue style but normal! We’re miraculously running off of the pump that was giving us problems all week and we need it to last until the new parts get in. Could be several weeks out because it’s such a specific part! So please don’t go ham! But yes you can do laundry now and shower and ect. Thank you all for your patience! Given the circumstances. We do our best and usually don’t stop until the problem is resolved. It’s frustrating and feels like forever but we are doing everything we can when a problem arises. Anyway! Good night to all, we’re gonna take this time to rest and clean ourselves up as well!

Chlorine is still high folks. Taking a while to go back down to normal levels. It’s not super high but it’s high enough for us to notice as we’re not used to higher levels of chlorine. I see folks complaining about feeling sick from it. I will flush it out again today. Thank you!

Flushing out the loops to reduce chlorine in pipes. Run your pipes at home for 30 minutes or so to flush chlorine from inside your home. Thank you! Also the boil water notice has been lifted! Just need to get rid of this extra chlorine in the system!

Water pressure is back on all 4 loops. Thank you. Still on boil water notice until I get sample results back tomorrow. Enjoy what feels like first day of fall and first day of school for our kids!

Please use water sparingly, shower if you need to. Chlorine levels are high so I wouldn’t recommend doing laundry as it may bleach clothing!

Please BOIL water for drinking purposes! Made haste and turned the water on at a lower level than I wanted to and chlorine levels are higher than what they should be for drinking purposes! So please boil for drinking until I post that it’s safe to do so! Thank you. I only have West loop on as the day goes on the other 2 will be turned on as well! Good morning Huskies!

Folks, we’re done cleaning the tank & now going to begin filling it back up with water and shock treat it. We won’t actually have working water pressure until tomorrow night possibly. The tank takes a while to fill back up. I or one of the guys will be here at the water treatment plant for folks to haul water if they need to from the well line. Thank you all for your patience!
