Please feel free to share your family and friends businesses below šŸ‘‡

Supporting your friends costs nothing—but it can mean everything.

Sharing a post, leaving a review, tagging someone, or simply spreading the word might seem small, but for a small business, it can open doors, bring in new customers, and keep their dream alive. Your one share could be the reason someone gets their first order of the day or lands a new loyal client.

We rise by lifting each other. Don’t underestimate the power of your support—it goes further than you think. šŸ’›

A little holiday help from The Mixing Bowl

After over 16 years at The Mixing Bowl, I know a thing or two about getting ready for holiday cooking! Those holidays were a big job, and getting all those orders ready took a whole lot of planning.

I didn’t have a fancy meal planner back then. I had paper, a pen, and lists! I wrote out what we needed, what could be done ahead, and what needed to happen when so we could get everything finished and ready for your family’s table.

So I’ve put together Mixing Bowl Cindy’s Holiday Planning Kit to help you do a little of that same planning at home. Whether you’re cooking for a houseful or just bringing a few dishes, getting it down on paper sure can help keep all those things from running around in your head!

It’s nothing fancy or complicated—just a little help getting organized so you can enjoy the holiday, too.

Our customers were such a big part of my life for so many years, and this is a little gift from me to you. 🧔

The link to your copy is in the comments! šŸ‘‡ I also put photos for those like me, who just like to see without clicking a link! Lol

And, if you’d rather skip some of the shopping and cooking, my daughter Becca at Gather & Go- Searcy will be making those holiday meals we’ve made and loved for so long. I know she’d love to help you out—even if it’s just taking one small thing off your plate so you can enjoy a little more time with your family!🧔

Love,
Cindyā™„ļø

Hey, everyone—this is Cindy! I spent the day at the store with my daughter, Becca, and there is something I would love to ask your help with. ā¤ļø

Many of you supported me throughout my 16 years at The Mixing Bowl. You encouraged me, recommended my food, left kind reviews,(mostlyšŸ˜‰) and stood by us through the good days and the difficult ones. I will always be grateful for the love so many of you showed me and my family.

Now, Becca is carrying that love forward through Gather & Go- Searcy
She grew up helping me cook and work in that store, and this is truly in her heart. She did not keep it going because it is easy or because the money is always great. She kept it going because she loves it, she loves this community, and she wants to serve the people who supported our family for so many years.

I see how hard she works—day and night. She is a young mother raising two little boys while running a business, keeping the coolers stocked, handling renovations and unexpected problems, and trying to make sure everything is done well. She has help, of course, but she still carries most of the responsibility herself. I honestly cannot keep up with her anymore! 😊

Today, I could see that she was overwhelmed, so this mama went to the store to work beside her. We cooked, filled the coolers, had the children there with us, and I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces. But I also saw her become discouraged after receiving a couple of complaints while hearing very little about all the things she is doing right.

We absolutely want to know when something needs attention. In fact, someone reached out today about a concern, we checked into it, and the problem was corrected. That is how it should work. If something is not right, please send Becca a private message and give her the opportunity to address it. I taught her to always try to make things right, just as I tried to do for all those years.

We are all human, people are still learning, and sometimes mistakes happen—but she genuinely wants the chance to correct them.

What is hurting her business right now is that Gather & Go has received only a small number of Facebook reviews, and most were written when someone had a complaint. When there are so few reviews, that does not reflect the many happy customers who enjoy her food, appreciate her service, and want her business to succeed.

So, I am asking from my mama heart: If Becca has prepared food you loved, helped you with an order, or given you a good experience at Gather & Go, would you please take just a minute to visit the Gather & Go page and leave an honest, positive review?

I know there are far more people who are happy with what she is doing than those who are not. Unfortunately, people are often quicker to share a disappointment than they are to share a good experience. Right now, she needs to hear from the happy customers, too.

Let’s flood her page with some encouragement and remind her that her hard work is seen and appreciated. Sometimes, in a job this demanding, the support and love of your community are what give you the strength to keep going.ā™„ļøšŸ’™

Thank you for supporting The Mixing Bowl through all those years, and thank you for continuing to support Becca and Gather & Go. I love and appreciate you all. I truly enjoyed being back in the kitchen today, cooking beside my daughter and seeing some of the people who have meant so much to us. ā¤ļø

A little Mixing Bowl memory as fall begins… ā¤ļø
Cindy here, this cool weather today has me feeling nostalgic:)

Every fall at The Mixing Bowl, we made between 5- 600 pounds of chicken and dressing for our customers—but the work started long before Thanksgiving week.

A week or two ahead of time, we would begin baking pan after pan of cornbread. We cooled it completely, crumbled it, packed it into freezer bags, and froze it so we would have plenty ready when the real dressing-making began.

By the weekend before Thanksgiving, we would be at the store chopping mountains of onions and celery. Sometimes we went ahead and sautƩed them in butter and stored them in large containers. When it was time to mix another batch, I usually warmed them back up because warm ingredients blended into the cornbread so much better than cold ones.

I would also make a huge stockpot of chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, butter, and seasonings and keep it hot on the stove. As we mixed each batch, I ladled that warm mixture into the cornbread a little at a time. We worked it in by hand, feeling the dressing as we went and deciding whether it needed more broth, more butter, or anything else.

We mixed it in those enormous blue bus tubs restaurants use to clear tables. Once filled, each tub probably weighed close to 70 pounds!
The cornbread was fairly coarse and rough before all the warm broth, butter, and other ingredients softened it. After working batch after batch with my hands, that rough texture would literally make my fingers sore. I eventually learned not to wait until my hands hurt too badly to ask for help!

That was when I recruited some of the younger helpers—especially the boys with the big hands—to take over some of the heavy mixing. I would stand beside them, ladling in the warm broth mixture a little at a time and teaching them how the dressing should look and feel.
Because here’s the thing about good dressing: a written measurement can’t always tell you when it’s ready. You have to FEEL it!

Once the cornbread, shredded chicken, buttery onions and celery, broth mixture, and seasonings were thoroughly incorporated, we always tasted it and adjusted the seasoning before adding the eggs. We tasted what we served!

Then the eggs went in, everything was mixed thoroughly, and I gave the top what I called ā€œthe belly-slap test.ā€ When you gently slapped the mixture, it needed to jiggle—almost like slapping a belly!😁 ( It should be very moist, smooth on top, and a little glossy from the broth and butter, but not stick heavily to your hands.
That little jiggle told me it had enough moisture, butter, broth, and eggs to bake up tender inside and beautifully golden brown on top.

I imagine some of my former employees are smiling right now because they remember the belly-slap test, the mountains of cornbread, and those incredibly heavy blue tubs very well!

Those were some long and exhausting days, but they are also some of my sweetest memories. We worked hard, laughed a lot, sometimes cried...and helped put something made with love on hundreds of families’ Thanksgiving tables. ā¤ļø.
