A very serious series about making little things slightly more fun for absolutely no practical reason.

First victim: this tiny lamp.

I’ve been seeing fringe lamps everywhere and decided this little coral shade needed a red fringe moment. The combo felt just unexpected enough to work, which is kind of the whole point.

Tiny change. Way more personality.

5 years later and this DIY slipcovered bed is still holding up 👏

Not every DIY ages well, but this one actually did. I made the whole thing for around $300 using a basic metal bed frame, a simple upholstered surround, and removable slipcovers so everything could be washed or changed out later.

Still one of my favorite DIYs.

One of my favorite lazy little home hacks: putting our lamps on a schedule so they automatically turn on at 5 PM and off at 9 PM.

Comment LAMPS and I’ll send you the Wi-Fi plugs + smart bulbs I use.

Almost every lamp in our house is either plugged into a Wi-Fi plug or uses a smart bulb, so the whole house starts feeling warm and cozy in the evening without me walking around flipping switches.

It’s such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in the way our home feels at night.

And when they all shut off around me on the sofa… that’s basically how I know it’s bedtime 😂

The finished dining room and new built-in bar area ✨

I loved this room before, but after redoing the kitchen, it needed to feel more connected to the rest of the house. The goal was never to make the two spaces match. I just wanted them to feel like they belonged together.

We kept so much of what was already here and added color, pattern, and a new built-in cabinet bar area to help pull everything together.

I think this version feels exactly right for where our home is now.

The goal was never to start over — just to make this room work with our new kitchen.

The biggest addition: a brand-new built-in bar. Can you believe we almost didn’t add add this?

Painted to blend in, but detailed enough to feel special.

I wanted it to feel collected, not overly “done.”

This gallery wall is an obsession of mine.

Cohesive with the kitchen, but still completely its own room.

Nothing was wrong with our dining room... until we redid the kitchen. 😅

Once the kitchen went bold, colorful and a little more traditional, this room suddenly felt like it belonged to a different house.

So instead of starting over, I worked with what we already had and added more color, pattern and personality. The biggest change was adding the new built-in and turning it into a little bar area. It looks like it was meant to be a part of the banquette all along!

Now I feel like the dining room and kitchen actually belong together, without feeling too matchy.

What do you think? Do the two spaces work together now?

A little paint, a lot of DIY, 350+ hand-painted tiles, and more decisions than I can count. 🥲 Our kitchen remodel from start to finish, and somehow it turned out even better than the picture I had in my head. ❤️

So much of our life happens in this room, and I love that it finally feels like us.
