We have shared previously that one of the organizations JAS supports is Lopez Community Land Trust (LCLT), and Joe Schneider co-owner of JAS is currently the board president.

[](lopez_clt) is searching for their next Executive Director, and we thought we would share some information about the role to our amazing community to see if we could help spread the word.

Here is a little bit about the position, but more can be found on the LCLT website - https://www.lopezclt.org/lclt-hiring/

LCLT is seeking a mission-driven, community-oriented Executive Director to lead the organization in collaboration with existing staff and a volunteer board. This is a great opportunity to serve as the public face of a trusted hyper-local, land-based organization.

This full-time leadership role is based on Lopez Island. Candidates should be comfortable living and working in a small, beautiful, ferry-served island with an involved and connected community.

Compensation offered: $117,000 - $134,000 depending on experience.
Housing is available.

New Project Alert!

We recently photographed a kitchen remodel we did for a family who has lived in their home for 30 years. They had remodeled their home when they first bought it, so a kitchen refresh was due.

Their home is surrounded by many mature trees, which inspired us during design to use a native wood grown in the Pacific Northwest for the cabinetry and wall cladding. We sourced hemlock from Bainbridge Island which turned out to be the perfect choice.

The beautiful ceramic tile we selected for the back splash area is from a San Francisco company - Heath Ceramics.

We haven't posted a Before & WOW in a while and thought this would be a goodie.

With this classic four-square Seattle home, we remodeled the kitchen and dining areas in order to provide better functionality and a cozy hub for the family. We re-located their backyard access and built a new mud room that also provides a separate space for the family dog when needed.

Custom cabinetry, dining table and banquette designed and built by us.

The name of this project says it all. 𝐿𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝐻𝑜𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐴𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑦.

Our client wanted space for frequent family guests but didn't want to give up all the storage space their existing garage provided.

So we designed a flexible DADU (detached accessory dwelling unit) that has it all - efficient kitchen, loft bedroom/workspace, full bathroom, and large storage space for all the outdoor toys. So kind of like a little house.

If you are interested in learning more about accessory dwellings on your property, reach out we would love to talk.

The kitchen is the space we most often help clients make uniquely their own. Kitchens are where we all hang out. Where families cook, guests stay up late, kids do their homework.
Kitchens are more than the sum of their parts.

After 35 years we have worked on a lot of kitchens, so we have a depth of knowledge that can help any client figure out solutions for storage, appliance location, open shelving/closed shelving, where to put the pet food bowls, should we knock a wall down or create a cozy kitchen nook.

Here is a selection of kitchens we have worked on to inspire what is possible. Maybe they will inspire you to want and refresh or update your kitchen.

Give us a call we would love to help.

Frelard

3 years ago we found ourselves needing more space for our Specialty & Service carpenters to work on client projects off-site.

We found an old shop wedged between Fremont and Ballard and aptly named it Frelard. Frelard functions as a multi-use space for carpenters, painters, our Service team, interiors inventory, general storage, and hosts several desks for office staff. It's a do-all space reminiscent of a 1998 JAS.

The building has a full shop space as well as paint booth, allowing us to handle doors, cabinets, and table bases all in one place.

Our friends at 𝐸𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒 𝐵𝑟𝑢𝑠ℎ𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑠 came by recently to help us get a cabinet package to the finish line. It provided the opportunity to work alongside them and work collaboratively throughout the process.

Second interiors install complete!

While we were renovating our client's kitchen and bathroom, they realized their furniture no longer belonged. It was chosen for a different stage in life…young professionals in a modern condo…not the craftsman they now call home. They wanted pieces that reflected the character of the home and who they are becoming. We basically started from scratch.

Through the interior design process, we collaborated with our clients and used these guiding principles: Welcoming, Collected, Vintage, Timeless, Layered, Effortless, Textured, Color, Gathering, Home.

We recently wrapped another beautiful project and handed the home back to our clients.

Designed to be a refuge in the trees, this new building adds flexibility to a beloved family property adjacent to a city park. The new dwelling unit draws formal inspiration from the main house, and will be furnished with a mix of the clients’ existing antiques and new pieces selected by JAS. We loved making this “treehouse” for our amazing clients.

More photos to come when the furnishings are installed. Stay tuned!
