Nepenthes burkei has long been a favorite here; with its tapered waist, shiny red peristome, and speckles of color, we’ve always thought it's an exceptionally beautiful plant. It’s also a great Nepenthes for beginners! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

Damon has made a lot of beautiful pings over the years, but Pinguicula x ‘Lilac Lollipop’ is one of the most popular! And it’s easy to see why; these rosettes of purple leaves are kind of everything we ever wanted in a ping! And on top of that, it flowers constantly! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

A direct quote from Damon: “Sarracenia ( alata ‘Night’ x self ) x alata “Giant Red Tube” MKA48 is the best possible alata we could make!” The pod parent is the very darkest alata in our collection, which is a selfed ‘Night’ that is nearly completely black by late fall! The pollen parent is alata “Giant Red Tube!” www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

We all grow Nepenthes for their beautiful pitchers, but why and how do they lose theirs? I get DMs every day asking about dying pitchers, so let’s take a look at my plants and learn more about their life cycle! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

The tuberous sundews have started to emerge from the soil! Tuberous sundews are fascinating plants that grow only in winter, when temperatures drop and daylight hours shorten. Don’t worry if your plants haven't started growing yet; each species emerges at a different time in the winter, and there’s still plenty of time for them to grow! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

New release! 🥳 Sarracenia flava var ornata “Bulloch Co, GA” x purpurea ssp venosa “Tattnall Co, GA” Is a new release for 2026 and is a staff favorite! The purpurea from Tatnall county are some of the most vibrantly colored, yellow and red purps in our collection! And combining that with the black veined Sarracenia flava from Bulloch County has created one of the most richly colored and veined crosses! Each one of these plants is like a piece of stained glass! We have a very limited quantity of these. www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

Nepenthes glandulifera x edwardsiana is a CalCarn cross! Our Nepenthes edwardsiana “Giant” is one of the nicest examples of the species in cultivation! Each distinguished pitcher is lined with shaped hooks, an iconic peristome! We’ve combined this with one of our favorite Nepenthes species, glandulifera. Glandulifera has beautiful wide-open peristomes and mottled pitchers, but the best part of glandulifera is the fine hairs covering the plant! We’re so excited to see all the variations coming out of a cross like this; each seed-grown plant will be a unique treasure! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

Pinguicula x “Lilac Pinecone” is one of those magical Pings that blooms large, cheerful flowers out of tight little pinecones of leaves in the soil. There’s something extra fun when Pings bloom out of these sorts of rosettes because it seems so impossible! Www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

Nepenthes albomarginata is one of the most unique pitcher plants in our greenhouse! This is a lowland species, meaning it requires warm conditions and high humidity. We love the unusual white collars around the pitchers! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com
