Some of these shrubs weren’t just overgrown… they were practically trying to overtake the property! 😂

I’ve been busy tackling overgrown bushes, unruly trees, and landscaping that had gotten a little TOO comfortable around homes throughout the Sandhills!

Another day, another project. A different kind of work, but the same attention to detail. 💪

One of the things I enjoy most about what I do is the variety. One day I’m painting a home, the next I’m tackling drywall repairs, installing fixtures, or completely transforming an outdoor space.

This week, I worked on a custom dry creek bank that transitioned into a flagstone walkway designed to help manage stormwater runoff, prevent erosion, and improve the overall appearance and function of the landscaping and outdoor space.

💦 WATER WATER WATER 💧

Water will destroy everything and it is often underestimated. A lot of issues have resulted in this area getting washed out with water. Digging, gravel, landscape fabric, and strategically placed larger rocks to manage the water coming from the roof in this corner have solved the problem 🤘🏼

The large rocks provide a place for the water coming off the roof to splash on and trickle down to the gravel and rocks in the creek bed that leads the runoff water to the grass and down the hill, away from the home and foundation.

🔨 FROM CABINET HARDWARE TO CURB APPEAL — ALL IN A DAY’S WORK! 🌳🏡

☀️ Morning: Out with the chrome, in with the black! 🖤 Swapped out the kitchen and bathroom hardware throughout a beautiful home, giving it a fresh, modern look. Sometimes the smallest changes make the BIGGEST difference! Next stop is changing the faucets to black 👏🏼

🌳 Afternoon: Traded the screwdriver for the hedge trimmer! ✂️ Headed to another property to give the overgrown bushes a much-needed haircut. Clean lines, freshly shaped shrubs, and a whole lot of curb appeal!

💪 Two homes. Two completely different jobs. One productive day!

THIS is why you don’t want pine straw piling up in your roof valleys.

It might not look like a big deal from the ground, but this valley had a pretty good buildup of pine straw and debris sitting right where rainwater is supposed to flow off the roof. I always blow off the roof and any penetrations first, then clean the gutters and check the downspouts.

Roof valleys handle a huge amount of water during a storm. When pine straw and leaves pile up like this, they can:

💧 Slow down proper drainage
🍂 Trap moisture against the shingles
🌱 Encourage moss and organic growth
🏠 Increase the chance of water finding its way underneath the roofing (peep that wet area when I blow off the straw)

Here in the Sandhills, pine trees come with the territory 🌲 — so keeping roof valleys, gutters, and other drainage areas clear is an important part of routine home maintenance.

A gutter/roof cleaning at least every six months can help prevent a much more expensive repair later👌

Biggest drywall repair I’ve taken on to date — and this one was a BEAST. 💪 Approx 145 linear feet of cracking and tape failure.

What started as extensive cracking across the kitchen and garage ceilings turned into a full week of repairs, prep, sanding, priming, painting, and a few extra projects mixed in along the way.

I tackled this entire job solo, and seeing that final result made every hour worth it.

The goal with drywall repair is simple: when I’m finished, you shouldn’t be able to tell there was ever a repair there.

Cracks repaired. ✅
Ceilings refinished. ✅
Fresh paint. ✅
Flawless finish. 👌

Definitely one of those projects that pushed me and left me pretty proud of the finished product.

The part of a ceiling repair nobody sees when the job is finished… 👀

A quality ceiling repair and repaint starts LONG before the first coat of paint goes on.

For this project, the kitchen had to be completely protected before any drywall repair, sanding, priming, or painting could begin. Floors covered. Cabinets wrapped. Appliances protected. Work area contained. 🛠️

Is it overkill? Maybe to some.

But when you’re working in someone’s home—especially around a finished kitchen—prep is part of the job.

The goal isn’t just to leave behind a great-looking ceiling. It’s to leave the rest of the room looking exactly the way I found it.

Good work starts with good prep.

🌿 A little trimming makes a BIG difference 🌳

These shrubs had gotten a little out of control, so I gave them a much-needed cleanup — cutting back the overgrowth, reshaping everything, and getting them back to a clean, maintained look for one of my elderly customers. There were 20 total around the home.

The before & after speaks for itself. ✂️🌳

Overgrown bushes don’t just affect curb appeal — keeping shrubs properly trimmed helps keep them off the house, away from walkways and decks, and makes the entire property look cleaner and better maintained.
