Common Cleaning Mistakes That Can Actually Cause Damage — PART 1 👀
Being a thorough cleaner is important but knowing your surfaces, tools, and products is just as important. Some cleaning damage is permanent!
🧽 Stainless steel → Abrasive sponges can leave permanent scratches, especially when scrubbing against the grain.
🎨 Painted walls → Magic Erasers are mildly abrasive and can remove paint, dull the finish, or leave shiny spots.
🪨 Marble, travertine & limestone → Vinegar and other acidic cleaners can ETCH the surface.
🪵 Hardwood floors → Too much water or steam can damage the finish, work into seams, and potentially cause swelling or warping.
🏠 Laminate flooring → Excess water or steam can work into seams and cause swelling or separation.
🚿 Acrylic & fiberglass tubs/showers → Abrasive scrubbers and pumice stones can permanently scratch or dull the surface.
🚰 Matte black fixtures → Abrasives and harsh chemicals can scratch, discolor, or damage the coating.
🔥 Glass cooktops → Using the wrong abrasive pad or scraping tool can leave permanent scratches.
Cleaning isn’t just about getting something clean. It’s knowing how to get it clean WITHOUT causing damage.
