Bringing nature into a home does not always mean adding more plants or the color green.🪴
In this current Newport Coast project we’re working on, we are using natural materials, tactile variation, and patterns inspired by nature to strengthen that connection. Existing limestone will be balanced with wood flooring, while stone, textured fabrics, and organic patterns add warmth and visual interest.
Several of the selected patterns also echo forms found in nature. They will appear in the dining chairs and kitchen backsplash, with additional rugs and wallcoverings planned for later phases.
This is where biophilic design and the Materials and Texture side of NeuroDesign come together. The goal is not to fill a room with “natural” things. It is to create a thoughtful mix that feels connected, comfortable, and right for the people living there.
A small place to begin in your own home is to introduce one natural material or nature-inspired pattern you genuinely enjoy.
