Not all paintbrushes are created equal! 🎨

The type of brush you use can make a big difference in how smoothly your painting project goes.

🖌️ Angled brushes are great for cutting in around trim, corners, and edges where you need a little extra control.

🖌️ Flat brushes work well for broader surfaces and general painting.

And don't forget to check the bristles! Synthetic brushes are a good choice for most water-based paints, while natural-bristle brushes are generally better suited to oil-based products.

🥶 A little preparation now can save a much bigger headache later.

Before those first hard freezes arrive, it's worth checking any plumbing that's especially exposed to the cold.

Pipe insulation and outdoor faucet covers are simple ways to give vulnerable areas a little extra protection when temperatures start dropping.

It's one of those jobs that's much nicer to take care of on a decent October day than when you're outside wondering why you waited until it's 25 degrees. 😆

Got a gate that's starting to sag or drag? Before replacing hardware, take a look at whether the gate itself is still square. 🚪

Measure diagonally from corner to corner in both directions. If the measurements are different, the gate has likely shifted out of square.

A diagonal brace or gate-repair kit can often help pull things back into alignment and keep the gate from sagging again.

Before the furnace settles in for another Wisconsin heating season, it's a good time to check the filter and see whether it's ready for another round.

A dirty filter can restrict airflow and make your heating system work harder than it needs to, and after months of sitting through open-window season, it's an easy thing to forget about.
