I want to share something that happened with an order recently because I believe in being honest with my customers, especially when I make a mistake.
A customer recently placed an order for her daughter’s first birthday, and during our conversations, we discussed a smash cake as part of the birthday setup. Unfortunately, when the order was finalized, the smash cake was not added to the final order form or paid for, and I did not catch that before completing the order.
That was my mistake. Even though it wasn’t included on the final order form and paid for, I had been part of the conversation about it, and I completely understand why she expected it to be there. I should have caught the discrepancy and confirmed everything with her before moving forward.
The timing made the situation even worse. I was in the middle of moving, had already packed away my baking equipment, and had spent hours that day completing and packaging the rest of her order. By the time we realized what had happened, I simply wasn't in a position to make another cake that night.
I want to be very clear that I did everything I could at that point to try to help. I offered to help find another option and even offered to pay for a smash cake from Publix so she would have something for her daughter's birthday the following morning. Unfortunately, I couldn't undo the mistake or bake one myself without my equipment available.
I am truly, truly sorry. ❤️
This is not something that has happened before, and it is absolutely not the experience I want any of my customers to have—especially someone celebrating such an important milestone as their child's first birthday.
I know that an apology doesn't change the inconvenience or disappointment, and I completely understand why she was upset. If I were in her position, I would be frustrated too.
I am incredibly grateful for every person who trusts me with birthdays, celebrations, and special moments. I don't take that trust lightly.
I made a mistake, I own it, and I am genuinely sorry. 💕
Thank you to everyone who continues to support my little business, gives me grace when I'm human, and allows me to be part of your family's special moments. It truly means more to me than you know. 🥹💗
