Which front door would you choose for your home?

One thing I always tell customers — don’t choose a front door just because you saw it on another house.

Every entrance is different.

Modern or classic. 36”, 42” or 48”. Glass or solid panel. Painted or stained. Sidelights, transoms, long pull bars, smart locks or multi-point locking systems.

These are just a few of the fibreglass front doors we’ve installed, and every one was designed around a different home and a different customer.

For me, the best front door is the one that looks like it was always meant to be there.

Full house window replacement and patio door replacement in Alliston, Ontario.

One of our recent projects where we replaced the windows and patio doors throughout the home.

For me, a good window replacement isn’t only about making a house look newer. The real difference is what you don’t immediately see — proper insulation, sealing, installation and windows that are actually designed for Canadian weather.

Another windows and doors project in Toronto.

One year later — and the door still looks great.

We installed this fibreglass front door about a year ago, so I wanted to show how everything is holding up after a full year of Canadian weather.

The door, finish, frame and hardware still look great.

We recently came back to the same home to complete the garage door and exterior aluminum capping.

One detail I always explain to customers is aluminum capping thickness.

Not all capping aluminum is the same. Thinner aluminum can be easier to bend, but it can also show more waves and imperfections once installed. We prefer a heavier-gauge aluminum because it feels more solid, holds its shape better and gives us a cleaner finished result.

It may seem like a small detail, but these are exactly the details that determine how an installation looks years later — not just on installation day.

For me, coming back after a year and seeing everything still looking this good is the best advertisement we can have.

Why choose tinted glass for your front door?

This is something customers ask me quite often.

For me, tinted glass is about finding the right balance between natural light, privacy, and design. You still bring daylight into the entrance, but compared with regular clear glass, the darker tint can make the front of the home feel more private.

And visually, especially with modern fibreglass doors, I think tinted glass looks fantastic. It gives the entrance a cleaner, more refined appearance without making the design too busy.

One thing homeowners should know: tinted glass isn’t the same as privacy glass. How much you can see through it depends on the lighting conditions inside and outside. If privacy is the main priority, we can also look at sandblasted or other privacy-glass options.

For security-focused entrances, we can also combine the tint with laminated glass for additional protection.

The right glass isn’t just about how it looks. It’s about choosing what makes sense for your home.

New opening + stackable patio door

This project wasn’t simply about replacing a door. We created a completely new opening in the house to give the homeowners a better connection to their backyard.

After properly cutting and preparing the opening, we installed a large stackable patio door system. Unlike a traditional sliding patio door, multiple panels can stack together, leaving a much wider usable opening.

That means more natural light when it’s closed — and when it’s open, the indoor and outdoor spaces almost become one.

Black windows + white brick — one of my favourite combinations.

This project in Innisfil, right by the lake, was a complete transformation.

The homeowners painted the brick white, and we installed black windows inside and out, along with matching black doors. The contrast completely changed the character of the house.

And with a home by the lake, performance matters just as much as appearance. The new energy-efficient windows provide better insulation, better comfort, and a completely updated look.

Sometimes you don’t need to change the architecture of a house. The right colours, windows, and doors can make it feel like a different home.

48” × 8’ fibreglass front door transformation

Sometimes the best upgrade isn’t making the opening bigger—it’s making better use of the space you already have.

This home originally had a single door with a sidelight and transom. Since the existing brick-to-brick opening was the perfect width, we replaced it with a 48” × 8’ fibreglass door, creating a cleaner, more modern entrance without changing the masonry.
