Next Stop on Our Ecuador Farm Tour: ValleFlor!

Our next farm visit brought us to ValleFlor, where we had the opportunity to tour their beautiful growing operation, meet the incredible team behind the blooms, and get a sneak peek at some exciting new floral varieties!

One of the most fascinating things about ValleFlor is their unique approach to growing flowers. We've all heard that talking or singing to plants can help them thrive, but ValleFlor takes that idea to a whole new level! Throughout our tour, classical music played among the blooms, creating a peaceful atmosphere throughout the greenhouses. They even have a violinist who regularly visits the farm to serenade the flowers!

Beyond their beautiful blooms, ValleFlor has an inspiring story of growth. What began decades ago as a small farm with just 2.5 hectares and a converted dairy stable serving as their post-harvest facility has grown into an impressive operation. After expanding to a second farm in nearby Pifo in 2000, ValleFlor now has 40 hectares in production and employs more than 350 people, making them an important part of their local community.

We've proudly sourced many of our beautiful aster varieties from ValleFlor over the years, and we're especially excited about what's coming next! During our visit, we got a glimpse of some incredible new varieties in development, including blush delphinium and spike alstroemeria. We're looking forward to seeing these unique blooms become available over the next couple of years!

It's always inspiring to see the passion, creativity, and dedication that go into growing the flowers we bring to our customers. We're grateful for our partnership with ValleFlor and the opportunity to experience their operation firsthand.

A Visit to Bellaflor: Celebrating 40 Years of Growing Excellence! 🌸

Our flower buyer, Ted Rawlings, and General Manager, Lindsey Rawlings, recently traveled to Quito, Ecuador, to visit some of the incredible farms that grow the beautiful flowers we bring to our customers.

We kicked off our journey with a wonderful visit to Bellaflor, a second-generation, family-owned flower farm that we've proudly partnered with for many years. We were especially fortunate to join the Bellaflor family in celebrating their 40th anniversary!

Touring their impressive operation was truly inspiring. Beyond their dedication to growing exceptional flowers, what stood out most was their commitment to the people who make it all possible. Recognizing the need to support working families, Bellaflor established an affordable on-site childcare center staffed by qualified caregivers. They also provide an on-site medical center, helping ensure their team has access to essential care and a supportive working environment.

Bellaflor's passion for innovation is another reason we've valued our partnership for so many years. They're constantly exploring exciting new varieties and unique floral products. From Dusty Miller and Bells of Ireland to other interesting and innovative stems, their flowers regularly find their way into our designs.

It's partnerships like these that remind us there's so much more to every flower than meets the eye. Behind each stem are dedicated growers, hardworking families, and a shared passion for bringing beauty into the world.

We're grateful for our longstanding relationship with Bellaflor and look forward to many more years of growing together!

Stay tuned as we share more highlights from our journey through Ecuador's flower farms!
