For sale Hardy fuchsia starts. In Stanwood by lake Goodwin .(like Fuchsia magellanica) is a woody, perennial shrub known for its long season of colorful, bell-shaped flowers from summer to frost, thriving in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. While the tops often die back in winter, the roots are hardy, allowing it to regrow from the ground up, making it a reliable, low-maintenance choice for borders, hedges, or containers, especially in cooler climates (USDA Zones 6-10).
Key Characteristics
Appearance: Shrubby with woody stems, often with a fountain-like habit; flowers are typically bi-colored (e.g., red/purple, pink/white).
Growth: Can range from 5-10 ft tall and wide, depending on variety and conditions.
Bloom Time: Summer until the first hard frost, often blooming for months.
Hardiness: Roots survive freezing temperatures, though stems may die back; generally hardy in USDA Zones 6-10.
Growing Conditions
Sun: Prefers partial shade but can tolerate full sun if kept well-watered, especially in cooler regions. Avoid intense afternoon sun.
Soil: Needs fertile, well-drained, humus-rich soil; tolerates clay but thrives with good moisture.
Water: Requires consistent moisture; thirsty plant, especially in containers or full sun.
Care & Maintenance
Planting: Plant in spring to establish roots before winter.
Pruning: Prune in spring to rejuvenate growth; can be trimmed for hedges.
Winter Protection: Mulch the crown in fall for extra protection in colder zones.
Pests: Watch for vine weevils and deer. Message or text 425-308-5274 for pickup, accept cash, credit, debit follow on Facebook at Foliage2Flowers for more plants available
