A 1940s Cape on Buzzards Bay, reimagined by jninteriorspaces and built by Woodmeister Master Builders

Life on the water means humidity that shifts with the seasons. For this home, the floor was built engineered: 8" White Oak planks bonded to a marine-grade Baltic birch core, cross-plied to stay steady through it all.

Lengths run up to 12 feet. With fewer end joints, the floor flows from the kitchen to the hallway without interruption. A softened edge keeps each seam quiet underfoot.

Mill Monday - The Trim Saw
After grading, each board is guided to the trim saw. The red laser lines on the ends show exactly where the cut will fall.

This first trim isn’t the final length. Boards are measured and cut again several times through production as our craftsmen decide what becomes part of the finished floor.

The entryway: How do you want to feel at home: the moment you arrive, set your keys down, and settle in? How do you want your guests to feel walking through your front door?

Eight entryways here. Hand-scraped white oak beneath a two-story stair. A hickory chevron in Alluvium that turns a narrow hall into a pattern worth slowing down for. Weekend Cottage in 10" planks, brushed, catching the afternoon light. And solid walnut in a classic foyer, approved by two residents who prefer to remain unnamed. 🤍

Every plank is center-cut American hardwood, graded by hand, in lengths from 2' to 12'. Our engineered floors carry a wear layer of the same hardwood as our solid planks, set on a Baltic birch core, and are MAS Green Certified.

Our Inaugural Designer Mood Board Contest!
What happens when talented designers begin with the same flooring sample and let their creativity take over?

As part of SFDC's Day of Inspiration, Carlisle's Curated Color Design Challenge invited designers to create mood boards built around one of our Curated Color flooring selections. Over three days, visitors explored the submissions, cast their votes, and discovered the many directions a single material can take in the hands of talented designers.

The challenge wrapped up with a reception at our San Francisco showroom, where the design community gathered to celebrate the creativity behind every board and reveal the winning design. With 88 votes cast, the event reminded us that great design happens when materials, imagination, and perspective come together.

Congratulations to Courtney Ferry and runner-up Merritt Stewart of Kendall Wilkinson Design and thank you to all the designers and attendees who made the challenge such a success.
