Shorter days have a way of showing you exactly where a property is underlit.
Entergy Texas recently reminded communities that working streetlights become even more important as daylight hours shrink. Midland County also approved replacing 37 exterior fixtures with LEDs to improve illumination, efficiency, and long-term operating costs.
Fall is a good time to walk your property after dark—not at noon—and look for:
* Burned-out or flickering fixtures
* Dark paths, stairs, parking areas, and entrances
* Lights blocked by trees or aimed where they create glare
* Timers or photocells that no longer match sunset
* Recurring trips or signs of moisture around outdoor equipment
Good exterior lighting isn’t about making a property look like daytime. It’s about putting dependable light where people walk, work, park, and enter.
If a public streetlight is out, report it to the utility or municipality responsible for it. If the problem is on your property, document the fixture and location so it can be diagnosed safely.
Plan the work. Work the plan.
When was the last time you walked your property after dark—and what did you notice?
