A lifetime warranty is only as good as who stands behind it. Here's how ours works.

The coating itself is warrantied by Penntek, the manufacturer. If something happens, they pay for the materials and Bo pays for the labor to fix it.

Bo's concern with some newer companies: if one pops up, works for five years and then gets bought out, the new owner can say that was a different company. Before you sign, ask who is actually on the hook.

Before you sign for a floor that's "60% off," hear how Bo sees those deals.

Some big companies come in offering 60% off or 0% interest for 60 months. We can't match that. But Bo says that once you take the discount off, they're landing right at market value, sometimes a little below.

The price we give you is the best price we can give. In his words, nobody makes money at 50 or 60 percent off unless it was marked up past that first. Get more than one quote and compare the final number.

Here's a job Bo turned down.

A homeowner wanted his driveway coated. The driveway sat over a living space, which makes it a roof. Bo isn't a roofer, and if that coating ever cracked and leaked, it would be the same as a roof leaking into someone's home.

Other companies said they'd do it. Bo sent him to a supply house in Seattle that handles waterproof decks instead. Knowing what not to take on is part of doing good work.

Edges are easy to miss with a machine. So we hand sand every one.

The deck sander already went over the whole floor, and it's square, so it gets in close. But a few low spots and edges still need to be scuffed by hand so the urethane sticks to the epoxy.

It's slow, and it's on your knees. We do it anyway.

Can you coat a basement floor? Yes. We've done quite a few.

Most basement floors are decent enough that they don't need much repair. This one needed a lot more. It looks way better now.

Part of it will be the homeowner's shop and part will be living space, so it's getting a tough floor that can handle both.

Here's a floor drain fix Bo is proud of.

The material kept running down the drain, so we stopped and drilled it out with hole saws to about an inch and a half. He set a plug in with fast-drying painter's caulk and left a drill bit sticking out so he could grab it later.

The next morning he pulled it and hole-sawed it clean. The drain looks finished, and it still works like a drain.

Two coats of epoxy are down. Before the top coat, the whole floor gets sanded.

80 grit first, then 120. It gives the top coat something to grab. Then every inch gets vacuumed.

It's not the exciting part, but it matters.
