Your insurance company doesn't care that the tree "seemed fine."
Here's something most Tampa Bay homeowners don't think about until they're filing a claim: insurers distinguish between storm damage and neglect. If an adjuster can point to a tree that was visibly dead, leaning, or overloaded with deadwood before the storm, that claim can get a lot more complicated β sometimes denied outright.
A professional assessment does two things. It catches problems before they become storm damage. And if something does happen anyway, you've got a record showing the tree was maintained, not ignored.
This isn't about being paranoid. It's about not finding out the hard way, in the middle of a claims process, that "the tree looked fine" isn't the same as "the tree was fine."
If it's been a while since anyone looked at your trees professionally, now's a good time β before you need the paperwork, not after.
