We’ve got the stairs underway, but the balusters are where the big design choice comes in.

So, what do you think we’re going with?

Option 1: Ornate black metal balusters + dark wood stain
Option 2: Light wood treads + square black metal balusters

We’ve just wrapped up this staircase renovation in Carlsbad, featuring chunky box newel posts, black iron balusters, and rich dark wood to complement the white wall paneling beautifully.

The contrast gives the staircase a clean, sophisticated look while adding plenty of character to the space.

Every space is different—and your staircase should be, too. 🏡✨

For this recent Murrieta project, we designed a completely custom staircase that does more than get you from one level to the next. We incorporated built-in cabinetry and storage to make the most of the space underneath.

That’s the beauty of going custom. We can design around your home, your style, and how you actually use the space.

We swapped out the white spindles for sleek black metal balusters, giving the staircase a whole new look while keeping the warm wood and classic details.

The black and wood combo adds just the right amount of contrast and makes the whole space feel more open and updated.
