When it comes to home improvement, the details matter, and so do the people behind the work! This week, we're highlighting Floors By Fred & Sons, a family business owned by Fred Clark, with his sons, Devon and Oliver, working alongside him.

Fred got his start in the trade by learning from a good friend's dad and discovering something he genuinely enjoyed. Today, he's working side by side with his sons, building on that experience and keeping those skills going. There's something special about a family working together!

Out with the old. In with the new. We ground down the high spots, patched the low spots, installed a v***r barrier and installed the new lvp parallel to the length of the room. The old floor (the grey one ) had alkaline and hydrostatic damage due to no v***r barrier and improper floor preparation. ***rbarrier

Grinding down high spots on a concrete floor is the best approach when the majority of the slab is flat and you only need to remove minor humps or ridges. Rather than pouring a full self-leveling underlayment over the entire room.

Not installing a v***r barrier when installing LVP on a concrete basement floor can cause moisture accumulation, plank curling, mold growth, and a voided manufacturer warranty. *edit* This basement had water damage, which is why the floor was being replaced. The channel between the two lakes has been cleaned out and so hopefully they won't have this problem again. ***rbarrier

We removed some Carpet that Jerry (Sr) Bultman and Fred Clark layed over 20 years ago. It was still in great condition but customers were ready for an upgrade. Some very high quality (WPC) LVP. Sr. is who taught Fred carpet over 30 years ago and Floors by Fred and Sons, may have never existed if it wasn't for that. From learning from Sr. to teaching his own sons.
