Not my normal retaining wall but built very sturdy with all 4x6 for vertical and horizontal boards, a lot of gravel behind with drainage pipe same as a block wall. Lots of work here bringing in boulders, taking out a tree, grading drainage swale, buried 5 downspouts, walkway, slit seeding.

In the process of putting in a new retaining wall in neoga that was just installed less than a year ago by a "landscaping company" that is failing, sinking, cracking, pushing out. They did absolutely everything wrong: wrong base material kitty litter size, not deep enough this is 2.5", no rock behind, no drainage, wrong block. A quick Google search would tell you this is not proper for a 3ft wall. Ask questions and phone a friend if you see anything like this for your project. It gives landscapers a bad reputation when people do crap like this and scam people out of good money.

Did this parking area for a few horse trailers. This will be solid for a long time with 25 tons of gravel.

A new parking area for a camper in neoga. 2" base rock and 3/4 top coat for a total of 25 tons and a solid drive.
If you call 5 people that do drives and ask how they do it you will get 3 that call you back lol and all will have a different way to do it. Some do fabric with no base, some use recycled concrete, some just throw a little on top of grass.
It's best to remove a few inches of topsoil, fill with large angular rock as a base then topcoat with whatever angular size you want to fill gaps and interlock it all together.

Dressed this portable shed up a bit and made it a lot safer to get into with the steps.

This 24ft wall failed for several reasons: no gravel base, built with RR ties that rotted and no gravel behind wall. It's all new and fixed now with 12" base material which is overkill, every block glued overkill, and totally filled with clean gravel behind wall for drainage. Will be planting 4 coral bell plants but they aren't ready at the nursery.

This before and after is pretty awesome. 100ft long retaining wall 3 blocks high. Changed out mulch for river rock and added rubber mulch at the house. So many pretty plants added and waiting on some others.
