🪵 For wood to burn efficiently in a fireplace or wood stove, a low moisture level is key - 20% or less is ideal. How can you tell if wood is properly seasoned? It should be brown with visible cracks, and the bark might be separating. Firewood that is too wet/green will take a long time to light, won't generate much heat, will smoke, and you might hear hissing or spitting noises as the fire tries to burn off excess moisture. 🔥

You'll often hear us reference "burn season," our busy season, typically running from October through February when fireplaces & woodstoves are used. The first "cold snap" kicks off the start of burn season because it's often the first time a fireplace/stove is used. Calls for service go up exponentially during this time. With low temps expected to drop into the 30s this week, we encourage you to test your fireplaces as soon as possible and call us right away if there's a problem. Sometimes, we're able to troubleshoot a problem over the phone to avoid a service call. 🔥

If working M-F 7 a.m. to around 3:30 p.m. sounds ideal, and you have a basic understanding of tool use with no fear of heights for occasionally climbing onto a roof, join our team at Light Brite! We’re willing to train the right candidate, and we provide company and factory training to remain current with the hearth industry, but experience in a trade like construction or HVAC is a plus. When Dave & Tammie Brandmeyer visited us in July, they had a vision for their new home, and that vision came to life this week.

Tammie wrote, "One thing I always want in a house is a fireplace in the living room. The house did not have one on the main level but had the perfect wall. I knew immediately who to call back in July when we put a contract on the house to get a design going - Light Brite Distributing came through in a big way and did this all in the very first week we moved in. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!!"

From start to finish, you can trust that our staff will handle your project with care and consideration as if it were our own home or business - from the design to the installation and clean-up. The custom built-ins and mantel were manufactured by our woodworkers right here in Trenton, and our in-house masons laid the stone for the fireplace surround.
