Healing is different for kids and their spaces for recovery should be too.
Designed to encourage play, joy, and creativity, the pediatric units at Southeast Michigan Psychiatric Center give children room to explore, imagine, and just be kids.
Playful details, Michigan wildflower graphics at a child’s eye level, and opportunities for both indoor and outdoor play create a welcoming environment where fun and activity are part of the experience of care.
As the mental/behavioral design consultant, architecture+ was proud to design the patient interior spaces and graphics for this project. Thank you to our partners at Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Integrated Design Solutions, Beckett & Raeder, Inc., and The Christman Company.
