🥉 Third Place | Large Bathroom
ASID Arizona South Design Excellence Awards

My clients asked for a bathroom that felt like a beautiful hotel suite: calm, uncluttered, and easy to care for. They also wanted it to serve them well in a home where they plan to grow older.

Getting there meant rethinking how they used the space. The original bathroom was oversized, with glass mosaic covering nearly every surface and a large bathtub they rarely used. Removing the tub made room for a private office within their suite, an idea they hadn’t considered and immediately loved.

The bathroom became smaller, but felt more spacious.

The black limestone tile with brass inlay was our first selection, and I built the rest of the palette around it. Warm honey alder cabinetry, matte travertine-look porcelain, thoughtful storage, and soft lighting gave that beautiful wall room to shine while keeping the space restful.

I’m so grateful this project received Third Place in the Large Bathroom category at the ASID Arizona South Design Excellence Awards. 🤍 Creating something beautiful is always rewarding. Knowing it will support my clients through the years ahead makes this one especially meaningful.

Second Place | Small Kitchen Design
2026 ASID Arizona South Design Excellence Awards 🏆

A little French inspiration, rift-cut white oak, beautiful marble, and a blue range that absolutely deserves its moment.

I’m so honored that this kitchen received Second Place at this year’s Design Excellence Awards!

But beyond the award, I wanted to share something I’ve been thinking about.

If you’re waiting until you feel completely ready to put yourself out there, don’t. Fear and excitement are awfully close cousins, and sometimes you just have to go for it.

I entered four projects this year. One of my personal favorites didn’t place, and looking back, I realized I had entered it in the wrong category. Another taught me that even a beautiful bathroom needs those finishing touches to tell its full story.

And you know what? I’m grateful for all of it. The wins, the lessons, and the reminder that investing in yourself is always worth it.

One of the loveliest parts of this experience has been the Tucson design community. The generosity, encouragement, and genuine excitement for one another is something special. We really are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.

So here’s my little reminder: Love what you do, take the chance, and don’t be afraid to learn as you go. You might just surprise yourself. 🤍

And I have to give a little extra love to my social media girls, Amber and Lindsay at LxL Social, who encouraged me to enter these awards in the first place! Sometimes you just need someone to give you that little push. Love these girls! ❤️

The best mistake we ever made won first place. 🤍

This kitchen received first place at the ASID Arizona South Design Excellence Awards, and there’s a little story behind one of my favorite details.

When the cabinet doors arrived in gloss rather than the matte finish we had planned, we were ready to reorder them. But my clients asked us to wait because they actually liked the glossy finish better. It turns out, so did I.

Paired with the scalloped walnut, the glossy finish brought out a beautiful warmth and subtle gold hue. We both loved how it looked in the space, so we kept it. Something we were ready to change became one of our favorite parts of the kitchen.

This was my first time entering the awards, and I almost talked myself out of it. Seeing this kitchen receive first place has been such a special experience, and I’m so glad I decided to submit it.

A private preview of a secret space above the Legion bar in Bisbee. Brick, fluted glass, a mahogany bar, iron chandeliers, and a wood-burning fireplace. The kind of room that makes you want a second home just to live in it.

Something special is coming to Bisbee.

British Columbia, in autumn. Hot toddies, falling leaves, and a table of finish samples, all in service of one beautiful home.

I’ve always loved Dolly. The hair, the humor, the talent… but mostly the way she seemed to know exactly who she is. 💙

She also happened to give pretty great advice.

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose” might be my favorite. In design and in life, I think there’s something to be said for knowing what you love, trusting your instincts and being brave enough to go for it.

Thank you for the music, the wisdom and for always doing it on purpose, Dolly. 🤍
