🌵Artichoke Agave - agave parryi var. truncata☀️

Only found in the Mexican state of Durango, this compact variety is more often found in cultivation than in its natural habitat. It forms a tight rosette of rigid grey-green leaves that are short and wide, each with a contrasting reddish-brown margin that gives way to numerous teeth and a stout black terminal spine. At maturity, the artichoke agave sprouts a 10ft to 20ft branching stalk with clusters of reddish buds that open into lemon-yellow flowers that the hummingbirds adore. The main plant can be replaced by one of its many pups once it blooms have faded.

STOLEN TORTOISE

After searching the greenhouse high and low, we have come to the unfortunate conclusion that someone has stolen our 2 baby tortoises. To whomever has stolen them, we kindly ask that you please bring them back no questions asked. If you do not decide to bring them back, please keep in mind that the weather is getting colder. These 1 year old babies will soon start to hibernate so please be sure to provide the proper housing for them. Us here at Civano Nursery didn't think we'd have to make this statement but, please do not steal our animals or go into their enclosures without permission. Thank you.

🪴Cape Plumbego - Plumbago auriculata🩵

Here in the Sonoran Desert, blue-flowering plants are rare, and of the few that are available, none can advertise the same stature and wild elegance as the Cape Plumbago. The sky-blue, phlox-like flowers are borne in clusters on the ends of multiple sprawling branches over a long blooming season attracting butterfies from spring through fall. Plumbago is deer resistant, drought and heat tolerant, vigorousm and fast-growing; easily rambling over sloped banks, climbing up fences and trellises, and cascading out of raised beds and planters. Taming this shrub requires some work, and keeping it formally trimmed will removes flowers, so we recommend giving it plenty of space for the most rewarding performance.

🌵Blue Elf Aloe - Aloe x 'Blue Elf'🩵

A compact aloe hybrid that never ceases to impress with its ability to tolerate reflected heat and colder temperatures than other varieties we've encountered. It's often touted as one of the easiest aloes to grow, needing only occasional watering and excellent drainage to look great whether located in planters or in the ground, in full sun or full shade. If grown in the sun, this tight-clumping and low-growing succulent has thin but fleshy blue-grey leaves and sends up tall spike of orange flowers that are frequented by hummingbirds in late winter to early spring. Shade grown specimens make a fantastic ground cover since they are greener and shorter with fewer flowering stalks than those grown in the sun.

Height: 12in to 18in
Width: 1ft to 2ft
Cold Hardiness: 15°F

🍂Wonderful Pomegranate - Punica granatum 'Wonderful'🌳

The 'Wonderful' Pomegranate is nothing short of interesting in the landscape. It always seems to be doing something, whether it's showing off its lush, shiny green foliage in the spring; its red-orange flowers and edible fruit in the summer, or its bright yellow leaves in the fall. Ican be grown as a large shrub, or a small tree, if desired. Pomegranate will tolerate a range of different soil types, given that they are well draining; it will even perform nicely in large containers. It is quite drought tolerant, but will be much more reliable producer of tasty fruit if watered deeply and often.
