Why inspections matter

I am always harping on people about having a roof inspection done at least every five years (more frequently the older it gets) because not all damage can be seen from the ground, and finding a problem BEFORE it becomes a problem to your checkbook is important.

"NAIL POPS" occur for several reasons, and while you typically get them as the shingles age, it is actually because of decking shifts (due to temperature changes, ventilation, etc), or a few other things.

But it is something commonly found in aging roofs. These nail pops allow a small leak that can go unnoticed for months maybe even years before damaging the inside of your home.

One thing you can look for from the ground is the "hump"

You should routinely do a walk around of your home to look for abnormalities and keep photos ( this also helps for insurance documentation of condition)

And as always, give a professional a call for those routine inspections

I knew there would be another increase this year. There are typically 2-3 per year BUT I certainly did NOT expect it to be this soon.

Official notifications are rolling out from manufacturers of another 5-8% product increase in JUNE. Mind you, we just had an increase of this same amount the beginning of April on shingles.

I have also been advised of increases on metal products including accessories and gutter material.

Those that know me know that I don't believe in sales tactics. I believe in being truthful and transparent with my homeowners.

This is transparency.

This is me openly telling you that we are living in volatile pricing times. If you have work that your home needs, get it done. Do not put it off and kick the can down the road because we simply have no way of knowing down the road what prices will look like.

So when someone tells you they aren't sure how long a price is good for, it is because we are at the mercy of our distributors who are at mercy of the manufacturers.
This is not just about one company

This is not about one industry

It is ALL of them.
