October is Gate Safety Awareness Month. We’re marking it with a closer look at the safety features on a manual commercial cantilever gate.

Stops welded to the frame limit its travel in both directions. A catch post limits tipping if supporting hardware fails, and guards cover the rollers to keep hands away from moving parts.

In this video, Allied Fence Co. of Tulsa shows where those parts sit and explains their purpose.

Even a 10-foot fence doesn't always provide enough privacy.

After more than 30 years of enjoying her backyard, a Tulsa homeowner found herself wanting more privacy when a neighboring home became a vacation rental.

Her existing fence had lattice across the top, leaving her back deck more exposed than she wanted.

We replaced it with a 10-foot-tall Western Red Cedar privacy fence, keeping the cap-and-trim style she liked and finishing it with a pecan-color stain.

4 fence types for a new apartment complex. 🏘️

Allied Fence Company of Tulsa installed:
• 717 linear feet of 6-foot-tall Western red cedar privacy fence with steel posts
• 116 linear feet of 6-foot-tall galvanized chain link fence
• 150 linear feet of 4-foot-tall black vinyl-coated chain link fence for the dog park
• 100 linear feet of 6-foot-tall Ameristar Montage Majestic ornamental fence

Across the front, the ornamental fence separates the property from the sidewalk and discourages cut-through foot traffic. The privacy fence adds security around vehicle parking, while the dog park gives residents an enclosed space for their dogs to run and play.

Having worked with Belmont Construction on previous projects, we understood their timeline needs. Multiple crews installed all 4 fence types simultaneously, completing the project ahead of schedule.

This custom railing project is at Camp Tall Chief, a Girl Scout camp in Eastern Oklahoma, built specifically for the lodge. 🌲

The old wood railing had started to rot and chip, and the camp asked for cable railing. We replaced it with steel along the full porch: two long runs and both stairways.

Every piece was customized around the existing structure. Each new post slips over an existing steel post that runs into the ground. The steel was laser cut and welded, then hot-dip galvanized, with stainless steel cable and turnbuckles completing the railing. 🛠️

⭐️ The camp called it “a great example of improving the beauty and safety of our camp.”

We’re grateful to be asked to improve this place where Girl Scouts gather, learn, and make memories. ✨Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma

Here are 4 chain link projects we finished recently, before and after.

Chain link is one of the fence styles we build for Tulsa homes and businesses. It comes galvanized or vinyl-coated, and we install the vinyl-coated in black and green.

October is Gate Safety Awareness Month, a good time to inspect the gates we use every day.

💡 This month, we’ll be sharing practical checks and real gate examples, starting with manual swing gates.

A few signs that something may have shifted: a leaning hinge post, a gate that drags, or a latch that stops lining up.

For a quick check, start at the hinge post. Open and close the gate fully and watch how it moves. Check the hinges and make sure the latch catches securely each time.

✍️ Save this post for your next gate check!
