Fall is a good time to check your garage door — especially here in Orange County and Long Beach where summer heat, dust, and salt air wear things down fast.

The short list: lubricate the rollers and hinges, wipe out the tracks, check the weatherstripping, and test the auto-reverse by placing a 2x4 under the door when it closes. It should reverse on contact.

🏢 A business in the Irvine Spectrum area had already ordered a replacement control board for its older LiftMaster side-mounted jackshaft garage door opener, and asked us to install it.

🛠️ On October 13, 2026, our technician Guy installed the customer-supplied board. This was an installation-only visit: only the control board was replaced, and we did not diagnose the original board as faulty.

✅ After installing the board, Guy adjusted the operating force and the opening and closing travel limits, checked the door's balance, verified that the shaft was connected properly, and tested the safety reversal system and the photo-eye sensors. The door operated correctly at completion. About 30 minutes on site.

🔧 Verified Job: Genie to LiftMaster opener replacement, West Garden Grove

🏡 On September 7, a homeowner in West Garden Grove told us their garage door was getting stuck halfway and wasn't operating properly.

🔍 Before replacing anything, our technician Guy ran the door by hand. It worked properly independently of the opener. The existing Genie opener dated from 2008, and Guy assessed it as at the end of its useful service life.

🛠️ He replaced it with a complete new LiftMaster opener on a seven-foot rail, with battery backup, new safety sensors and a new wall control. He then adjusted the opening and closing travel limits and lubricated the door.

✅ Before leaving, Guy checked that the door opened and closed correctly, completed the safety-reversal and photo-eye beam tests, and tested the remote from about 20 metres (65 ft) away. Everything operated correctly. Time on site: about one hour.

💡 A door that stops halfway doesn't always need a new opener. On this job, the door worked properly by hand, and the 2008 opener was the part assessed for replacement.
