Haven Interiors is an interior decorating & design business located in Bellingham, WA. Haven Interiors started with a dream.

Carrie had been decorating and designing for friends and family, until she decided to make it a living in 2017. Her goal is to break down the wall that says your house is just a shelter, and that professional decorating is financially out of reach to the masses. Carrie strives to help anyone transform their space into a true Haven, no matter the budget.

Last spring, I had the incredible opportunity to go on a ‘UK Prayer Adventure’ with 30 new friends 🤍

It was a dream trip, where we visited places of rich and vibrant spiritual heritage. We heard stories of the land and the people whose deep commitment to carry the good news of Jesus and the presence of his Kingdom wherever they went resulted in lasting transformation of the world around them 🌍

We prayer walked London, worshiped in the church John Newton pastored, roamed Holy Island, encountered Jesus and made life-long friendships. We ended our time in Wales at a stunning retreat center and house of prayer called Ffald y Brenin.

I am captured by beautiful things every day, but especially in the UK where my soul is at home🏡

Can’t wait to go back in a couple of months! 🥹🫶🏻

These design boards were created for friends of friends who wanted to update their 1980’s home 🏡

They installed new floors, fresh paint and wanted to use some of the art they still love. With a neutral base, I incorporated color into the textiles, art, rug, accent & dining chairs that could be changed out when they get bored, but the main pieces will last for years ✨

One of my favorite projects to date!☺️

The Bible is FULL of scripture about hospitality, especially when Jesus arrives in the Gospels and sets the example of what it means to “love the stranger” 🤍

He is love, and embodies love to anyone He comes in contact with. Here are a few of my favorite verses about hospitality… ⬇️

✨ “Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.” John 21:13

✨ “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” Acts 2:44-45

✨ “And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” Luke 19:5

That last one is especially powerful because Jesus actually does two significant things. While inviting himself to stay at Zacchaeus’ house - a small, rich, tax collector who no one liked - Jesus shows us that he welcomes ALL 👏🏼 loves ALL 👏🏼 and wants to actually spend time with ALL 👏🏼 And it changes Z’s life…

✨ “And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:8-10

This is a board I put together for a lovely family who had just moved into a new home 🏡

They wanted their Modern-Scandi style to:

🤍 be comfortable
🤍 function with little ones
🤍 incorporate pops of color

One thing I loved about this project is that when I presented the colors and made the suggestion to paint one of the walls in their living room ‘Evergreens’, the wife had JUST pinned a photo of a dark green wall that she adored. We hadn’t talked about it at all, but it was clear we were tracking! 👏🏼

Last February, I traveled to the Basque Country in Spain with a dear friend. I had never been to Spain, but I was quickly enamored with the variety of design throughout the region. 🤍

Ancient, modern, simple, ornate, country, city - what’s not to love?!

Welcome to the Haven Interiors page! My name is Carrie Butler, and I started Haven in 2017 with my dear friend, Emma. We grew it from a baby into a toddler, and while Emma now has two babies of her own that take most of her time, she will always be Haven OG.

I am passionate about creating beautiful, functional spaces, whether it's for a homeowner who needs a fresh look or a buyer searching for a house to call theirs. One of my favorite quotes is by the Arts & Crafts textile designer, William Morris, who said, "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” I try to live by this in my own home, and help others reach that goal in theirs.

Home is really important to me, being a space we live life out of. If it's not a place we're inspired by and functional for our day to day activities, I believe it can actually wreak havoc on our souls. My hope with decorating, and even staging, is to give people a sense of peace and delight when they walk into a room. I want them to love coming home. I want them to enjoy showing off their home. I want them to feel courageous about selecting things for their home. I want them to be motivated to live fully in and out of their homes.

My goal with any project is to make it fit for you - within your time constraints, budget & comfort level. Reach out and let’s get started!
