Jaap and I began our journey as DutchicanCreations when we married in 2015, a Dutchy (Dutchman) and a Mexican American. We’ve combined our love of the “shop” to discover, reclaim and reuse furniture and build, repair and create furnishings and home decor that is made with mindfulness, invokes coziness and invites you to gather...gezelligheid...reunir.
I’m the painter, sander and overall laborer. Jaap is the carpenter, builder and welder, though his creativity is boundless. In that sense we’re both creators.
When we’re not reclaiming or creating our own pieces, we work on commissioned pieces from our friends and family as well as any customer that requests it.
With so many beautiful styles of furniture and decor, many people today don’t limit themselves to just one style, opting instead to be more eclectic in their selection. And done right, the effect is inviting and pure coziness. In that spirit we tackle many design styles.
