WHAT A RIDE IT HAS BEEN! ❤️🔧
From a High School Senior to Almost 30 Years in Business!
Sometimes I sit back and think about where it all started, and I can’t help but smile. It’s been one heck of a journey!
It all started in March 1997, during my senior year of high school. I was attending school half a day and taking Air Conditioning and Refrigeration classes through vocational training. I was learning the trade, getting my hands dirty, and discovering something that would eventually become my life’s work.
After school, I would head straight to work for another air-conditioning company, gaining experience and learning everything I could.
But even back then, I had bigger dreams.
In March 1997, while I was still a senior in high school, I started advertising my own little business. I didn’t have a big company, a fleet of trucks, or employees. What I had was determination, a willingness to work, and the belief that if you treated people right and did honest work, you could build something special.
And that’s exactly what I set out to do.
By 1999, just two years after starting my business, something incredible happened.
I had contracts doing appliance installations for some of the biggest retail names around, including Montgomery Ward, Best Buy, Sears, Lowe’s, and Home Depot!
I was still a young man, but I was out there installing appliances, taking on responsibilities, building relationships, and making a name for myself.
Looking back, that’s something I’m extremely proud of. What started as a high school kid advertising his services had grown into opportunities to work with major retailers.
I didn’t get there overnight. It took hard work, dedication, long hours, and a whole lot of determination.
Fast-forward to today, October 2026, and I’m getting closer to celebrating 30 YEARS IN BUSINESS in March 2027! 🎉
Some people are surprised when they find out that Discount Appliance Repair isn’t a company with 5 or 10 employees.
It’s just ME. A one-man show!
I’m the guy who answers the phone, schedules the appointments, orders the parts, handles the paperwork, keeps the books organized, drives to the jobs, diagnoses the problems, and makes the repairs.
Some days I’m the secretary, the dispatcher, the accountant, the technician, and the cleanup crew all rolled into one! 😂
I try to stay as organized as possible because when you’re running a business by yourself, every phone call, every appointment, and every customer matters.
Is it always easy? Absolutely not.
There have been long days, late nights, missed meals, stressful situations, and times when I wondered how I was going to get everything done.
But there have also been thousands of wonderful customers, friendships made along the way, lessons learned, and blessings I never could have imagined as that high school kid in 1997.
I never wanted to become the biggest company. I just wanted to build a business people could trust.
One thing I’m especially proud of is that my life isn’t just about making a living.
When I’m not working on appliances or helping customers, you’ll often find me volunteering and giving back to the great State of Texas.
Whether it’s serving or helping my community, or being there when somebody needs a hand, I believe that serving others is one of the greatest things we can do with our lives.
Because at the end of the day, success isn’t just measured by how much money you make or how big your company becomes.
It’s measured by the people you’ve helped, the lives you’ve touched, and the difference you’ve made along the way.
To every customer who has ever picked up the phone and called me, recommended me to a friend, shared one of my posts, or trusted me inside their home — THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! ❤️
You helped that high school kid with a dream turn it into almost three decades of doing what he loves.
And to any young person out there with a dream, here’s my advice:
Don’t wait until you have everything figured out. Start somewhere. Work hard. Stay humble. Be honest. Treat people right. And never forget where you came from.
You don’t have to have a big team behind you to make a big difference.
Sometimes all it takes is one person who’s willing to get up every morning and give it everything they’ve got.
March 1997 – March 2027
30 YEARS OF HARD WORK, DEDICATION, AND SERVICE! 🇺🇸
I’m still that same kid at heart who loves fixing things and helping people. Just a little older, a little wiser, and maybe a few more aches and pains! 😂
Thank you, Southeast Texas, for keeping my dream alive all these years!
